Other Media that gave you "The Feels."
So what other media have you experienced that made you feel as emotionally invested as KS did? Here are a few that did it for me.
1. "DC ~ Da Capo": I watched the anime first. Watching Nemu, Junichi, and Sakura go through that emotional roller coaster physically hurt. I decided when I got the VN to play Moe-sempai's route because she was the fluffiest and funniest character in the anime and I needed a breather. I soon discovered that Moe-sempai's route is the most emotionally devastating of all of them.
2. "Miles Vorkosigan Saga": Still my favorite science fiction novel series. Bujold does a fantastic job at making you empathize for the characters. Elli and Miles breaking up at the end of "Memory" made me sad, but nothing compared to the final hundred words in "Cryoburn." Miles' unofficial motto, "Forward Momentum," is my personal mantra for times when I feel overwhelmed by life.
3. "The Deer Hunter": I watched this movie alone in a darkened room. I sat there after the ending credits listening to that beautiful guitar theme play out, then went silently to bed and cried into my pillow.
4. "Saishuuheiki Kanojo": aka "Saikano" aka "She, the Ultimate Weapon." The horrors of war and the end of the world juxtaposed over high school romantic angst.

Both Clannad and Kanon, two of Kyoto Animation's seminal works and produced by Key of Haruhi Suzumiya fame, drove me to tears at several points throughout the series. They go above and beyond the normal emotional levels of that kind of series, and the characters are so well-played that you can't help but empathise.

So far, 20th Century Boy by Naoki Urasawa; and A Song of Ice And Fire by G.R.R Martin.
Well constructed stories and awesome characters.

Again, 1984 by George Orwell. That was the first time I felt "the feels", although they were more like...torturous in essence.
Before that, Onani Master Kurosawa.

Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss game me a mild case of The Feels.
But Planescape: Torment, the pc game, still makes me shiver. Specially Deionarra.

I already wanted to watch this, but now you mentioned it, I'll make sure to do it soon!themocaw wrote:3. "The Deer Hunter": I watched this movie alone in a darkened room. 1) Movie: "Modern Times", by Charlie Chaplin. Seriously, Chaplin is something unique that you never be seen again on the movie industry. This is my favorite from him, but the others would also be great to watch
2) Book: "One Hundred Years of Solitude", by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. It's fucking awesome, there were times when I simply stopped reading and wondered "how the fuck it is so amazing?!".
3) Anime: "Neon Genesis Evangelion". I think this is the best I've ever seen, just make sure to watch the movie instead of the end of the anime.

Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop - I got the feels when they ended. Two shows I really enjoyed watching, and got really into the stories.
Lord of the Rings - Uber feels when Gandalf "died", and then even more feels when they sailed off to the Undying Lands.
Final Fantasy's VII & X - Mega case of the feels during certain parts of these games.
and probably the greatest case of the feels:
Azumanga Daioh - This grabbed me from the start. I became really attached to the characters. I got the feels when I read the manga, and I got the feels (even more so) when I watched the animated series.

I've only ever cried to a single book: "Earth Abides", by George R. Stewart. Despite being post-apocalyptic (and one of the most innovative and original contributors to the post-apocalyptic sphere, might i add), it's actually far more upbeat than sad, but the entire last chapter just wrecked me. Very hard to describe without spoiling a great deal of it, but still.

Re: Other Media that gave you "The Feels."
Well, here's a few things from various media that gave me the case of "The Feels"
WARNING: TL: DR post.
Marvin Gaye - What's Going On and Innercity Blues
What's Going On -
Inner City Blues -
That feel when Marvin is singing about war, crime, violence, poverty, and issues facing the black community in the 70s and how it is paralleled to what's going on in life today.
This ain't livin', baby.
Aerosmith - Amazing
A rather depressing song and one of few sober Aerosmith songs that is great. This is one of the very few songs that made me cry because I kinda reflected on how I felt about life for a while in terms of me being a jackass to people and getting into anger and stupidity over simple silly stuff that can easily be fixed.
Michael Jackson - Stranger in Moscow
A lesser known song MJ wrote during his Dangerous/HIStory era.
How does it feel (How does it feel)
How does it feel
How does it feel
How does it feel
How does it feel (How does it feel now)
How does it feel
How does it feel
When you're alone
And you're cold, inside?
It is the feeling of what if I ever become alone, abandon from my family and friend and I have nobody but myself. I not lonely by any means and I can't be a loner but it's like, what if something happens where I wind up becoming alone?
Ryu's Ending from Street Figher II
It took me nearly half my life to get this ending and the whole "Ceremony means nothing. The fight is everything" mentally Ryu has.
Basically, it taught me not to do my passion (playing and composing music) not because of fame, glory, popularity and money but do it because I love it and I enjoy it.
This is something I wrote about his ending and my view on life in general because of it
American History X's Ending
(WARNING: THIS LINK CONTAINS HUGE AND MAJOR SPOILERS TO THE MOVIE! I AM FUCKING SERIOUS IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHI THIS MOVIE DO NOT LOOK AT THIS VIDEO! )
Making this one short...
Basically, the feeling of there are second chances in life and you should forgive and not have hatred in your heart because of a few people. Also, if you have somebody in your life who's looking up to you, make sure you direct them in the right path.
"Hate is baggage. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time. It's just not worth it."

Apocalypse Now for the most powerful feelings in general, but I think the ending of Blade Runner fits the theme of this thread a bit more.
Edit: Blade Runner Final Cut of course, the Theatrical version destroys the feeling pretty quickly with that cheesy tacked-on epilogue.

This too.Alpha Morlock wrote: the ending of Blade Runner
Also, as I'm playing through FF XIII, I do believe i'm getting the same case of the "Final Fantasy feels" that I always get. It's not my fault the music, animation, and plot is so damn captivating...

Only clannad and this game. Well, the last episodes of Digimon season 3 too, but not anything compared to clannad or KS.
