I was more going for the fact they're both originally designed by the same guy.

the gameplay is such a fucking great step-up from the already wonderful first one, but the story and the characters are basically every fucking anime cliche ever. It's bad enough that i find myself not playing it because i hate the characters just that much. Still recommend it either way.
