Dell Optiplex 755. If there's a way to OC a Dell, I'm all ears. Also please remember this is a spare PC I'm using to test as a Joomla content management system (as a future replacement for an Apache/Perl website currently running on a Solaris box).
Hardware Manufacturers usually put a lock on the Multiplier and Voltage manipulators so people don't void their warranties.
I don't choose to OC my computers, but I like to keep control of what goes into them. Other than the first computer I bought I've always built my own. Warranties? We doan' need no steenkin' Warranties!!!

Warranties just seem to get in my way.

I If a part doesn't fail, I can't use it as an excuse to upgrade!!

My main folder will be offline for today while I do maintenance and move everything over to a new case, but PS3 will still be going.

Happy to welcome another personal friend, Gridylo.

This. I love it when parts fail, because that means soon I would be able to splurge without feeling guilty about it. I doubt I'll be using the same parts in 5 years time, so why not half my CPU's lifetime from an arbitrary 10 years to arbitrary 5 years? Hell, even less is fine...

Made my c2d e6600 go from 2.4gHz to 3.0 gHZ with only a minuscule increase in core CPU voltage (I think it was .03V). Right now it is running 52°C when both cores are under full load, but I usually have only 1 F@H CPU client running and a GPU, so most of the time the ambient CPU temp is under 50°C. I realize I could still squeeze more hertz out, and I keep telling myself I would get on that.

On a slightly different note, I got http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835706015 when I first started pushing my CPU. And holy shit, this thing is a beast. The level of noise is amazing, I don't really mind it since I have headphones on most of the time, but so is the amount of air this thing can hurl. It sounds like a hairdryer, but blows as much air as a vacuum cleaner. Which is quite good when you think about it. It can also fly.

1 moderately good CPU, 1 8800gtx, 5 really OLD CPUs.

I like how two of the reviewers list the incredible noise as a pro. Overclockers are funny.

More Power = More Noise. Crank the volume up to 11.

No one buys a Delta for its quietness anyway (though the PS3 Slim one is a slot Delta and is very quiet).

We deco'd an amp rack that has a 3RU fan in it. If I ever bother reassembling the box o' parts of mine into a folder I might sit that above it.

I do very much thing that fans should not be heard though. It ruins the sound of my headphones and my speakers and my monitors...

On another note I am getting the network admin to open up a few ports for me at work so I can sue some of the machines that are sitting in our machine room doing very little.

So, uhh, apparently we now have a team consisting of a single ISP who will beat us in a months time.

Ah well, can't beat them all. Of course, this could just be another one like the Quakecon team, starting strong and then just dying out.

Folding_Texas' sole contributor is called road-runner, and if it's the roadrunner I'm thinking of, there is no two ways about - we're gonna be passed.

Roadrunner is the name of a supercomputer. The worlds most powerful supercomputer.

People can reserve the processing time of a portion of most supercomputers, so we don't have to worry about anyone bringing the whole damn thing down on our heads, but even just that fraction of the beast is enough to tear nearly any team to shreads - in rankings anyway.

Or maybe someone just has way to much cash/hardware on their hands, who knows.

Dear god... and I was scared about the Quakecon team, and these up and comers Calguns... but this, this thing is a true beast. It folded 328,614 points yesterday.
It's a good thing Shizune is deaf, she is the only one who can stand (not) hearing "Wahaha~!" over and over.

Well, for what it is worth I don't think this is actually the Roadrunner in Los Alamos, New Mexico that we are working against. Possibly someone appropriated the name for themselves? F@H info on Team 171808 only shows 20 CPUs. This is more on line with a server rack setup than a supercomputer owned by a Federal agency. (Use of assets by the Feds must be accounted for by pretty strict accounting standards and when this machine is not doing government work all its processing time has to be accounted for. Can't have some govenment flunky linning his pockets by selling time under the table on a honking big supercomputer.) Roadrunner is a hybrid system using AMD Opterons and IBM Cell processors. All software has to be written specificly for the hybrid architecture. There is no F@H client for this architcture and I don't know if they would allow ANYONE to submit results done with code they don't control. If someone had custom written the code and gotten approval from F@H to use it and were running in spare cycles of the Roadrunner supercomputer I'd expect to see numbers with wild fluctuations as other programs ran and mainainence was done, etcetera. Since they have only shown up in tracking for a little while I expect it will require more time to tell. Last but not least if they are the Feds at Los Alamos, New Mexico why name their team "Folding_Texas"?

All that said, yep they will pass us eventualy if they maintain their current pace. After all the teams we dusted in passing I can't summon much fear of being threatened by two teams. I don't like it, but as its working for good results I can't complain too much if someone is working better than I am.
