Rin:
The best place would be somewhere high up a mountaintop with a scenic view. Sort of like a solitary picnic for the two of you, where she can enjoy an inspirational view. She's the kind who takes art and inspiration seriously. And while it's hinted that she draws her inspiration from far more abstract sources, it's also shown that she does appreciate pretty-looking things, like when she asks Hisao to go see the dandelions bloom with her. Plus she seemed to enjoy her picnic with Hisao and Emi.
The worst would obviously be to take her out to dance. Or a game of ping pong.
Emi:
The best idea is somewhere outdoorsy, yet not too far away and detached from society like with Rin. Maybe a local park. A good idea is to change locations with her, so she doesn't have to sit at the same place for too long. People with fast-paced lives like Emi tend to get bored if they're nailed to the same spot on a date. It'd be good to start off with a picnic, move in for some cake at the Shangai, then conclude with somewhere scenic, if you're aiming for a goodbye kiss.
The worst place to take her is probably an art expo (she didn't seem to like it when she was at Rin's) or at a place where she has to stand or sit at the same spot for a prolonged amount of time. Sporting events may be an exception to that.
LIlly:
Anywhere classy is good. Like on their first real date, she seems to enjoy classy restaurants, so that's a pretty safe bet with her. While it may sound silly, I do believe Lilly might actually enjoy a visit to a gallery. When she asks Hisao about his favorite colors, even though she doesn't know what colors are, she shows a pretty straightforward liking to seeing things through the eyes of others, because she can't see them through her own. Maybe she would be interested in hearing Hisao explain what he sees in the paintings to her, in order to get a feel of art through his eyes.
A bad place for Lilly... I can't seem to think of one on the spot, but I assume, even though painstakingly obvious, that a sporting event wouldn't be to her liking. She can't exactly see it happen and I don't see her as the type to appreciate that kind of stuff.
Hanako:
A good place is anything that's remote from society. A place where only the both of you can enjoy each other's company. She doesn't seem like a person that would be too demanding of you while on a date. Anything that doesn't end in a disaster would be fine by her. Plus, the likelyhood that the two of you will end up playing a game of some sorts is high, so if you have a chessboard with you - you're set to go. She's not exactly the most adventurous person either. Maybe a hike up in the woods, with a rest in some cabins (as was mentioned before) would be optimal. Just bring some game to play and a lot of books to read and you'll end up having a good time.
And of course, as obvious as this is, a bad place would be anything with more than two or three additional people there. Shopping mall, any form of event... the movie premiere of Twilight...
Left Shizu out, cause she's not really a character I managed to get an accurate grasp on. She just wasn't a character that enthralled me as much as the others.

I think she'd enjoy ping pong, if she used her face as a paddle. I could definitely see her doing that too.Mint wrote:Rin:

You do have a point with that. She's pretty steadfast when it comes to doing things her disability prevent her from doing.ShadeHaven wrote:I think she'd enjoy ping pong, if she used her face as a paddle. I could definitely see her doing that too.Mint wrote:Rin:

I guess I should have gone with "The Thumbwar Olympics"
Re: Best/worst places to take the girls out on a date
Sallah snatches the tainted fruit out of the air before it can land in Jones' open mouth. An annoyed expression crosses Jones' face as he looks to Sulla in confusion; following Sullah's gaze down, he sees the Capuchin monkey sprawled out on the floor, some of the fruit still clinging to its mouth. It's dead. Likely poisoned.
Sallah solemnly speaks, "Bad dates."
That's, of course, my own rendering of the scene.
Getting on with things, I'll try not to be using obvious problems with their disabilities. Things like taking Lilly to the movies or Shizune to a concert are just silly. I tried to think of something that would clash with their personality.
Lilly - Casino. It might seem like a good idea. However, between the cacophony of sounds, pushy crowds, and the grandiose visuals she can't even see, a casino would make for a terrible date with Lilly. She never seemed much of a gambler, even, so at best she might spend the night getting drunk at a bar.
Rin - Sporting event. Unless there's a specific reason she'd attend, as with Emi's track meet, I think she'd be bored by the reverie. In typical Rin fashion, she'd be evasive in answering whether she was enjoying herself, and her lack of protest would prolong the boredom. She might get something out of watching the athletes, but wouldn't feel connected to the event.
Shizune - I'll come back to this one. I'm trying to think of something she couldn't salvage by turning it into a competition...
Misha - Museum. Not that I don't think she'd enjoy art, but because the heaviness of the air would make her feel claustrophobic. The implied silence would also be oppressive, and the strict rules about touching anything would be stifling. She'd feel tense, disconnected and probably withdrawn. Not the state of mind you want your date to be in.
Hanako - Nightclub. As much as I think she'd enjoy the music, I think the leering crowd would drive her into herself. The implication of being stared at is often worse than actually being stared at, and there would be so many people around she couldn't tell the difference. She'd likely cling to you as her buoy of salvation; but she'd also know you brought her to that place, and it wouldn't sit well.
Emi - Symphony. As much as it would be a great place for Lilly, it would be the exact opposite for Emi. Even if she enjoyed the music, the implication to dress sophisticated would irk her, and the requirement to sit through two hours of music she may not even like would make her crazy. She'd be ready to start bouncing off the walls by the first intermission.

Oh god. That quote. Took me a second to finish the first sentence and remember the scene. Took me 5 minutes to finish the rest due to laughing. Thank you.Helbereth wrote:Sallah solemnly speaks, "Bad dates."
Also. Hanako dancing to Thriller. Somebody, ANYBODY, GET THAT DONE. THIS NEEDS TO BE A THING SO BADLY.
Wooh, ok, now that that's outa my system, let me take a swing at this:
Lilly: This will be easiest due to my position in country and society...
A/ Symphony concert, then I'll ask her to wait for the people to thin out while I get our stuff, show up on stage instead and dedicate a piano song for her, hoping I don't get kicked out.
B/ A 2-3 day trip to a small town in my country, quite famous for it's wines. It's tucked away in the middle of the mountain, beautiful, quiet and serene. Might have a hard time keeping her from getting totally wasted though.
C/ A trip to the city of Nessebar in October. Culturall and historical wonder of an island town, smack full of tourists till mid September, by that time it's the very definition of Serenity and Calmness. Boat rides, sea quisine and cultural events included. A friend has a summer house there for me.
D/ Resturant dinner. Or home-cooked dinner on the balcony of my 15th and last floor appartment. or roof.
My parents brought me up a cultured person and introduced me to a lot of people. I play instruments. If I can manage one date it would probably be Lilly
Worst case scenario, anything too loud, uncivilised or likely to get her drunk. Also anything that could get her to worry over anything. Getting drunk on rooftops does seem like a terrible idea now too...
Hanako
Already been mentioned, a lot, but hiking would be pretty awesome. My roof also works, great sunsets over there... and them fireworks...
Worst case scenario, take her to the movies to see the new remake of The Firestarter. Sorry. I'm so damn sorry. On her birthday.(I'm going to hell for even thinking that)
Rin seems to have an eye for skies. And a heart for nature. Mountains it is. Or that trip to Nessebar in October. Or my roof. Or a bench.
Emi Carnavals, period. Picnics do seem like an alright idea, but I think she might enjoy camping or hiking too. I think my roof's out though...
Shizune Camping, there's so damn much to make a competition out of when it comes to camping... As mentioned before, I think she might find it fun to dance to something with a heavy bass too. Malls or arcades sound like a good idea, as well as stuff like Billiard and Bowling. Aaaand my roof is also back in the game, especially with the 360* fireworks on New Year.
My guitar and piano playing and having the most romantic rooftop in the city are my rather awesome cheap shots... I might overuse that a bit, sorry.
Works every time though.
Gluehuffers, all of you.

Lilly might enjoy going to the cinema... I mean, many couples just go there to make out and don't even pay attention to the movieHelbereth wrote: I'll try not to be using obvious problems with their disabilities. Things like taking Lilly to the movies.

Don't a lot of movie theaters provide closed captioning? Anyway, there's no reason Lilly couldn't enjoy a musical.Surreal-mind wrote:Lilly might enjoy going to the cinema... Hanako's favorite joke is The Aristocrats, but she never tells it because Lilly finds it really offensive. Instead, she practices her delivery in front of a mirror when she's alone. It's the only time she never stammers.

One of my dates was like that. My reaction was kind-of, "No way, bitch! This is Oscar Wilde. You will watch, and you will enjoy."Surreal-mind wrote:Lilly might enjoy going to the cinema... I thought Shizune could use closed captioning; Lilly would need more of an audio description =] Which again, some cinemas do.WorldlyWiseman wrote:Don't a lot of movie theaters provide closed captioning? Anyway, there's no reason Lilly couldn't enjoy a musical.
That's a little harsh. There are some very enjoyable musicals out there; admittedly, there are many that I absolutely hate as well.Dr. Robotnik wrote:

Don't you mean audio description since Lilly wouldn't be able to read subtitles.WorldlyWiseman wrote:Don't a lot of movie theaters provide closed captioning? Putting my hatred for musicals aside, Lilly still probably wouldn't like them. A lot of musicals require context in order for the songs to be any good (which is the main reason why I hate them) and not being able to see what's going on would confuse her and greatly subtract from the experience.dwarduk wrote: That's a little harsh. Maybe. I feel the best musicals tell a story that require nothing beyond the music. Lilly might enjoy Les Miserables, I think. The first time I heard that was on a CD and it had almost as profound an impact as seeing it live.Dr. Robotnik wrote:Putting my hatred for musicals aside, Lilly still probably wouldn't like them. Or you could just read the book.
