Spanish Translation
I was lurking around the Staff subforum and found that the spanish translation project was likely dropped.
since the last messages were from 2009.
So i would like to take over the Spanish Translation job, no team, just me. im on vacation so have plenty of time.
neutral spanish, no regional words.
Hope someone from the staff see this post..
Thanks.

Re: Spanish Translation
Even with time, I think it's probably unreasonable to do the entire translation on your own. Act one is what, a hundred thousand words? More? Devs'd know better than I would, but 100,000 words is about three hundred pages of book. That's a helluva lot of work for one translator.
Fans destroy things by loving them too much. This is one of the fundamental laws of the universe.

Re: Spanish Translation
It's not only about workload - I agree Act 1 would be manageable for one person - it's also about quality. No matter how good you are, you'll never spot all the mistakes you made in your own texts - especially after reading them so often you could recite them in your sleep.
Working in a team you can find each other's mistakes, which is a lot easier and more than makes up for the additional effort that comes with coordinating your translations.
I know the German translation would have been much worse if either my colleague or myself had had to do it by ourselves.
A few weeks back there was another post asking about the spanish translation. If the original team has indeed dissolved - which you should check with Delta before you do anything - maybe you could form a new team with that person.

Re: Spanish Translation
Alright, i get the that part dude.
Actually im on a fansub, as Admin/webmaster and occasional translator, so maybe i can patch up with the other translators, i put a note on the staff dashboard.
if they are too busy, then, the other guy would be the planB
About Delta, i going to send him a PM, with that question.
Thx, see you.
EDIT: i was checking the last post about a Spanish translation... and i afraid that him wouldn't be a wise option. neither as translator (don't have any clue about english) nor proofreader (his spanish is just...terrible). so im counting on my fansub team then. or maybe on another passing by dude.

Re: Spanish Translation
Well, I do understand a good chunk of written Spanish, but that's mostly due to learning French at school. I couldn't gauge the actual quality of another's Spanish^^°

Re: Spanish Translation
I would like to help you as translator or proofreader, I'm good at reading English (better than writing, as you can see now) and my spanish spelling is early perfect.
Spanish from Spain without idioms, of course.

Re: Spanish Translation
You should contact pato2747, I talked with him a few days ago and we´re trying to go on with the spanish translation (more or less 50% is done already).
If I have any news I´ll post them here.

Re: Spanish Translation
So... well, did you finish the spanish translation? ( ; A ; ) !
Some friends of mine wanted to play/read KS but didn't even strat because they don't understand English. It'd be very helpful (for them AND for me - not working as a translator for them would be a relief).

Re: Spanish Translation
Seeing that the last post is from nearly half a year ago, I wouldn't count on it.
Re: Spanish Translation
Not that I know. I have a part of Act 1 translated into spanish (sent to me by Pato) but about 50% is still undone. To be honest, I got into translating other stuff... maybe if some other people (spanish translators) were willing to collaborate, we could get things moving again! Once the game is fully released tomorrow, we'll see what happens.
Re: Spanish Translation
if it's not late, i will like to help with the translation of the game to the Spanish Language. Please contact me if still are searching people for this project.

Re: Spanish Translation
Ive been looking up for this since day one D: I even promised my brother i would find a way to translate it so that he could read it, but i thought all hope was lost when i read http://ks.renai.us/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4718 <-- this thread.
Wanting to share one's Katawa Shoujo experience is frustrating when the people you want to share it with are unable to read it because its in another language. I specially want my mother and brother to read it, but neither of their english is on par with Katawa Shoujo's writing.
As much as id love to help out on the translation, i have a pretty busy schedule right now with my school's semester half-going, and my next year is planned to be even busier. I cant but wish whoever is\are working on the translation a very big fat good luck, ill be looking up for it.
Try and make it as neutral as possible though, no idioms that could easily make the translation look like the person in charge of it is from this or that country.

Re: Spanish Translation
Yes, there is a translation still going.
No, it's not the same as the original.
No, it's not near finished, since we are still in act1 for a number of reasons I will not bother mention.
Right now it's me, forseti and pato. I'm the head, once act1 is done we have planned to distribute the routes, forseti picked Hanako, pato picked Emi and I picked Rin (because she's the bestest f*ckin' route evar).
Questions and whatever send a pm, use this thread or something. Most of the times you can see me bouncing on and off #ks because I have the most magnificently fucked up connection.
We are NOT interested in making a translation in iberic spanish, it's gonna be in español latinoamericano, i.e. neutral spanish, a.k.a. "that horrible aberration" to some. We are all magical and mysteryous beings from the american continent, so you can rest assured we know our spanish, and of course our english even if it isn't as awesome a language.
