Stem Cell Treatment?
Stem Cell Treatment?
I'm not at all familiar with it, so I have to ask, since we've already seen one reference. What are the odds this might help Hanako, if the devs decided to bring this up in her route (not saying they would or wouldn't, as I am, obviously, not one of them)?
It would be beautiful if KS was released for download on October 7. Greatest. B-day gift. Ever. (This is not meant to be taken as telling the devs to hurry up, so please don't take it as such, it's just a dream of sorts.)

The odds are not calculable, since research in that field is still ongoing. If you're asking "what are the odds that this might realistically help Hanako now" instead, the answer is "nil".

Are you talking about this? Because I don't think it works on skin that's already scarred.

Re: Stem Cell Treatment?
Kind of on topic, What is the deal with Shizune apparently being against stem cell research? Was that in Act 1? If so, I don't know how I missed it. She lives and works with Kids with all types of disabilities, many of which have stem cell research as their only hope of recovery.
My original play-through schedule: Hanako, Lilly, Emi, Shizune, Rin.
After playing through the game a second time, the revised list goes like this: Lilly, Hanako, Shizune, Emi, Rin.

It's a joke by the path writer. And easter egg of sorts. Not meant to be taken seriously. It is written all over Shizune's panties during her fight with Lilly.hatori1181 wrote:Kind of on topic, What is the deal with Shizune apparently being against stem cell research? Was that in Act 1? It's a good thing Shizune is deaf, she is the only one who can stand (not) hearing "Wahaha~!" over and over.

What about skin grafting? Although I guess Hanako may not have the money for that sort of procedure...

I remember watching a video about it 3 years ago.
It works with skin, but looks somewhat artificial.
It literally skin outside the skin...
Future procedures would probably removed scarred skin and "grow" new skin on it ( Just guessing )
But ehhhhh. Hanako looks cuter with her scars anyway

Good joke... Everybody laugh... Roll on snare drum... Curtains...

Re: Stem Cell Treatment?
FYI: current skin-grafting surgical procedures may already include a modicum of skinning, even on recently-damaged zones.
Grafts to repair already-healed areas always include skinning to the appropriate depth.

id say the odds of anyone getting cured are nil because they are stars of a cripple porn game and if they got patched up then it would just be a porn game.

Now I'm just imagining a Face-Off movie poster, but with Hanako and some moeblob rather than Cage and Travolta (yes, this summer, Cage is Hanako).

Great. Now I'm imagining Hanako yelling "Not the bees! Not the bees!"Teclo wrote:Now I'm just imagining a Face-Off movie poster, but with Hanako and some moeblob rather than Cage and Travolta (yes, this summer, Cage is Hanako).
...and now I'm imagining Eddie Izzard: "I like my Hanako like I like my coffee... COVERED IN BEES!"
...yeeaaahh. I should probably go to bed soon. Not only because it's 7:00 AM here, but because my mind is going so off-track like that.
However, I should probably say SOMETHING on-topic before posting this and signing off... I concur with those who say that while Hanako could get healed up with grafts or something like that if she had the money, we can't expect it to happen in the main story itself because that would a) undermine the character growth that seems essential to her plot, and b) the VN is about girls with physical disabilities. Now, I'm not going to rule out the idea that it might have been written into one of her epilogues (if there are any, that is), but I'm not a Dev, so that's just pure speculation on my part.

Re: Stem Cell Treatment?
because someone being against something that would help them and/or a bunch of people they care about is completely unrealistic?
Re: Stem Cell Treatment?
^that
It's possible she'd benefit from technology like that, but people bring up a good point that her skin is already largely scarred over.
As for the ethics of stem cell research, I could see anyone being against something that helps them but destroys another life. (if we're talking the embryo-destroying research) With more and more breakthroughs using stem cells from other sources, there should be less objection. Unfortunately, nearly all medicine has originated from doing stupid things to other people.
