Emi in the final CG
Emi in the final CG
Something that I've been really confused about is the final CG. There is no sign of Emi's prosthetics. She's wearing striped tights and shoes, and it bulges out just like if she had legs.
Am I missing something?
Also, she looks the same way in the super deformed art for the Extras menu.

Not me since I don't know what that is.Caesius wrote:So who's gonna be the son of a bitch that makes a Rozen Maiden reference.

If you look carefully at Emi's stockings, you'll notice a small line across them; an outline-type line. That line is the break between the stockings covering her remaining thighs and the stockings hiding the prosthetic legs. I suppose when you use such an obnoxious combination like Dr. Seuss stripes, it's easier to overlook the fact that they're two different pieces and that one of those pieces may not be real. Don't know if that was intended by the artist in that case, but kudos for the thought process/sheer dumb luck in making it work like that.

Emi's got normal prosthetics too (iirc, it's mentioned during her ending as well).

Didn't mean to insinuate they weren't cute, just saying that they stand out so much that it kind of distracts you from the subtle details like the separation line. Honestly, if you saw a person wearing those stockings walk past you on the road, would you notice "Holy crap, those are some [goofy/weird/appropriate adjective] stockings!" or would you notice "Holy crap, that girl has prosthetic legs!"? By design or not, that just kind of works out that way.
Heck, you show a picture of her alone from that CG and ask anyone if they notice anything weird about her, I doubt they'll say that she's got prosthetics or anyone will really notice the separation line at all without really looking. The simple fact that we already know she has no lower legs simply means we're more aware that her 'normal' legs aren't, in fact, normal.

Even so, 'natural' prosthetics are still easily seen through socks. You'd notice these through socks, definitely.
I enjoy everything the devs hate. This includes and is not limited to: Pokemon, K-ON! and Lego.

That all depends on how much effort is put into concealing them. A little flesh-like material (thinking dragonskin from Mythbuster's Buster dummy for material, color, etc) could easily make the shape of a natural leg, then slipped over non-joint areas of the prosthetic. Finish up with the stocking over top and all you see is a sock over top of a potentially awkward looking leg, if that.ZystraL wrote:Even so, 'natural' prosthetics are still easily seen through socks. I don't deny you have a point, I'm just saying that more effort could be made in making it look natural, if so desired. I was using 'normal' in the sense that you'd have to really look to identify that that part of the leg isn't real - from a glance, it looks perfectly fine.

<Aura> would you squeeze a warm PVC bottle between your thighs and call it "manaka-chan"
<Suriko> I would do it if it wouldn't be so hard to explain to my parents

Just as I was making google look for some tasteful pictures of "skin-imitating" prosthetics - someone beat me to it.☆♥Aura♥☆ wrote:what about these?
A distant relative of mine has these type of prosthetics and unless she wears a see-through pantyhose under a skirt, light summer dresses or something else similar revealing like that, it just looks like a real leg.
However. it's a little bit difficult to walk through open terrain with such prosthetics since your foot cannot adapt to the rough ground but considering that Emi is yong and very in shape it's no surprise that she would be able to have a picnic with Rin while wearing these types of legs.
On an interesting sidenote: I just found out that people with leg prosthetics can dance - made me glad that this option for romancing Emi is not out of the question.
Ahh, Morticia? I would die for her. I would kill for her. Either way, what bliss.

Out of curiosity, is it possible to stand still in those?☆♥Aura♥☆ wrote:bonus
If not then those would probably produce some damn hyperactive amputees.

If you don't stand with the blades side by side (one blade slightly in front of the other), then I'm sure you could keep some kind of balance (geometry, properties of a triangle on a plane, etc etc). Otherwise, it's probably exactly like learning to balance on your own two natural legs. Once you get it down, it would become second nature. All things considered, standing on the points of those legs is the equivalent of your ankles, both in design, function, and for balancing (natural legs just have a larger surface area to plant down on).
Though if I'm wrong, that would certainly explain Emi being on the track team.
