Yamaku Book Club (20220124 Dish Washing)
Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Mendācium)
Hey there, so I was dead for a bit, but I have returned! So yay. Many thanks to Comrade for not letting things entirely go to rust, Although I would like to gauge who all is still interested in the club, and if I should resume normal operations. Sorry again for falling off the earth, life is dumb sometimes.
Also, Ive updated the archive to account for all the stuff that happened whist I was out of commission.

Indeed, I agree that this should continue. It's a good way to get people to read something they -might- not have on their own. I know a few works that went under my radar that I read because of this.
"I don’t want to be here anymore, I know there’s nothing left worth staying for.
Your paradise is something I’ve endured
See I don’t think I can fight this anymore, I’m listening with one foot out the door
And something has to die to be reborn-I don’t want to be here anymore"

Minor corrections: in the membership list, it's 'blasphemy' not 'blashpemy'; also since 'Exceeder', we've also had a short look at 'Fractal Butterfly' (which was Mirage_GSM's suggestion). Thanks for your work (and Comrade's too) and may it continue!Sea wrote:Hey there, so I was dead for a bit, but I have returned! So yay. I don't see any reason to stop.
And we're back.

Shattering your dreams since '94. I also fought COVID in '20 and '21, and all I got was this lousy forum sig.

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Panda's Stuff)
So I was just looking through this when I saw that Rooftops was one of the topics of discussion about two weeks ago. I'm not sure what the policy is on bringing an older topic back for one post, but I was otherwise occupied with family matters at the time, and would like to comment on it, now that it's been almost a year since I posted it.
I agree with pretty much everything that was said about it. It was simply a way to push myself onto the forums without hesitating, and it was written in roughly ten to fifteen minutes at around 1AM, along with other low quality works that I didn't post. At the time, I hadn't attempted anything longer than 3,000 words, as I hadn't really pushed myself to do so, and as such didn't have as much knowledge on deeper plot development or pacing as I do now. Looking on the works that I have posted here, I see them mostly as character development training, and I'm glad I spent the time on them.

This pretty much sums up how I feel about the fic now that I look back on it. The original ending did have him wake up after the heart attack, and was mostly just darkness for the sake of it. "Woe is me, no family left to support me, why didn't I die" kind of crap. If I did end up rewriting this, then I'd change literally everything about it.Leaty wrote:The death is just way too convenient, you know? It's like something I'd tell a four-year-old. Hisao was sad he missed Emi and Rin, so he died and met them in heaven and now they're happy again. It's way more powerful if he doesn't die. It's sadder if he cries out to the universe and nobody answers back. If he goes to the park and feels sad, knowing that he'll have to go back to work in the morning and test the new diabetes medication for the nine thousandth time.
I was still on the track to finishing Blossom, then the BCube VN popped up. That project just took priority, as it seemed like a good opportunity to develop my abilities further. At the very least, I promise I'll update here when we get a demo released. I can't really promise a return to writing KS fics thoughdewelar wrote:Honestly, I almost didn't give Blossom a chance after having read this (and now I just wish Numb would finish one of these longer pieces sometime).
Currently working on: Notes for a new project (Coming Soon™)
I did KS and other songs on note blocks in Minecraft: Playlist here
Old works| Rooftops - An Emi Story| Christmas with the Hakamichis | Not Like Him - Rin Perspective|Blossom - A Miki pseudo-route

So, wait, what is "Panda's stuff"? I'm confused what we're reading now

I think this means we read everything we can find in that thread? A bit difficult to navigate, though, and I'm not sure if they're meant to be a single narrative, although some are clearly parts of larger pieces.Sea wrote:Alrighty then, we shall keep on going, starting with . . . .

As far as i can recall, there is a one shot he did with Hanako and a Shirt and then a several part narrative in the later pages.brythain wrote:I think this means we read everything we can find in that thread?
