All ages version?

<Aura> would you squeeze a warm PVC bottle between your thighs and call it "manaka-chan"
<Suriko> I would do it if it wouldn't be so hard to explain to my parents

I hope everyone in here understands that "WAAAAH THERE IS PORN IN IT I WANT IT WITHOUT PORN" is pretty much the same as saying "WAAAAH THERE ARE CRIPPLES IN IT I WANT IT WITHOUT CRIPPLES".

You got Porn in my Cripples!
(Two great tastes in one. Now with extra fetish sauce.)
Re: All ages version?
Ok, so "All Ages" does mean more than locking the H-toggle. In that case, I would prefer 4LS finish the game as it was originally intended to be and then undergo the sanitation process if they felt it necessary.

Re: All ages version?
Pretty much this. Get whatever was originally planned done, and worry about other things... later, if at all. In fact that's the stance the devs have pretty much been taking, and it would follow that they should continue with it.Still a person with an opinion wrote:Ok, so "All Ages" does mean more than locking the H-toggle. And the devs have confirmed the no-H toggle, I believe, in which case I honestly feel that it is enough.
That's my $0.02 CDN on thread topic.
The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy has this to say on the subject of flying.
There is an art, it says, or rather a knack to flying.
The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.

Re: All ages version?
I would love to see an all ages version, because even if the vast vast VAST majority of the fanbase was pulled in by the prospect of cripple porn, the story that the writers have put into this game is so incredible that people like me get exited and want to share this experience with their friends and family.
Say for example your dad (or whoever) is an avid reader, and you think they would get a kick out of KS. The game becomes a lot easier to recommend to people IRL if you can show them a version WITHOUT cripple porn.

I think that people are mistaking their desire to be able to share KS with others people with the dev groups desire to tell the story they have spent years of their free time working on.berserker29 wrote:I would love to see an all ages version, because even if the vast vast VAST majority of the fanbase was pulled in by the prospect of cripple porn, the story that the writers have put into this game is so incredible that people like me get exited and want to share this experience with their friends and family.

I'm glad they spend the time maintaining these forums and listening to our opinions. (I bet by now 98% of the "new" stuff that gets posted they heard months and months ago.)

Exactly. Except now, there are more people. So I don't expect an end to MISHAPATHPLZMISHAPATHPLZMISHAPATHPLZ anytime ever until ever.
Re: All ages version?
Yeah, I guess its the mark of good storytelling that so many folks want a secondary character to get more screentime. But if Misha did get it she would be taking it away from Emi. So, therefore, Misha needs to suffer a tragic "throwing-wiffle-balls-at-mik-bottles-while-climbing-the-stairs-hair-drill-impalement-accident" to remove her from the story. I have every confidence in the path writers to do it without too much gratouitous blood. Now, if it advances the plot, I guess they can paint the screen red.Hypothermia wrote:Exactly. Re: All ages version?
Too much opinion, not enough fact.
1) Unless a miracle happens at this late stage, "cartoon child porn" will become illegal in the UK (except for Scotland - don't ask, it's too complicated).
2) In the simplest terms I can think of, if a court finds that KS was produced "solely or principally for the purpose of sexual arousal" then if it contains images of a child (meaning under 18) or images that look as though they could be of a child, and those images are obscene (we have a rather lower obscenity threshold in the UK than in the US) or "otherwise disgusting" (a vague term which will be up to the first court hearing a case to decide wtf it means) AND if it "focuses solely or principally on a child’s genitals or anal region" (gotta love the legal speak) OR it depicts acts of masturbation, penetration (of any sort) or bestiality then you are heading for 3 years in jail for being caught with it on your computer plus up to 10 years (I think) on the Sex Offenders Register.
3) As has already been said many times, the whole point of KS is unlocking H scenes - this fulfils the first criterion. KS is set in a school, so yes maybe all the characters are over 18, but some of them definitely could be younger, and so the second criterion is fulfilled. The images will of course include explicit depictions of genitals and acts of penetration - what would be the point otherwise? The only remaining criterion is whether the images are obscene or "otherwise disgusting". I for one am not taking any changes on this until there's a decent body of case law on the topic. It's not too difficult to work out what is criminally obscene when it comes to adult porn, but would a jury apply a lower threshold if a child was involved? I don't know, and I don't want to find out if it's me in the dock.
tl;dr: Us perverts in the UK (except for the Scots who for obscure constitutional reasons aren't included in this mess for now) would like a separate version with no H images, pretty please. Explicit dialog over a black screen is fine, but it has to be a different version, not one with an H-toggle.

Jesus...
Dat's cool so what's stopping you, showing the full game to your family/friends?berserker29 wrote:people like me get exited and want to share this experience with their friends and family.
Maybe the 2nd part of my post?

No, it's actualy quite easy.berserker29 wrote:The game becomes a lot easier to recommend to people IRL if you can show them a version WITHOUT cripple porn.
Recommend it to wise people/people with brains, not stupid people who would go "OMFG YOU LIEK CRIPLE PR0N, YOU RETARD PIECE OF SICK F0CK!" when you tell them what is it about.
And make sure you say something wise, not, "hey I have a cool game with cripple pr0n".
Say something like, "wanna read and play an insightfull visual novel about the life of a crippled teenager with it's ups and downs?".
I find the introduction on the website to be a very good one:
See that's a very good intro. :]Website Introduction wrote:Katawa Shoujo is a bishoujo-style visual novel set in the fictional Yamaku High School for disabled children, located somewhere in modern Japan. Hisao Nakai, a normal boy living a normal life, has his life turned upside down when a congenital heart defect forces him to move to a new school after a long hospitalization. Despite his difficulties, Hisao is able to find friends—and perhaps love, if he plays his cards right.

And if playing it is illegal where you live then that is entirely your problem and you should try bothering your government, not us. Apart from that, http://www.truecrypt.org/

2. really? from what i hear, detectives in your shows go to titty bars instead of bikini bars like ours do. that doesn't really apply to this case, but still wanted to say that.Guest wrote:Too much opinion, not enough fact.

3. nope. how do you explain so many people playing the current version with absolutely no porn? that would make for a good defense, say you played the first version, really enjoyed, and wanted to play the next one, despite it having nudity. for the second criterion... well if the devs care about the situation and it doesnt conflict, they might include ages that are 18 and over. we also dont know how explicit the images will be, but you are probably right. but anyways, your defense of "i liked first version with no porn, so i downloaded this one and flipped the toggle to not have any" should give you a fighting chance. america isnt too friendly to VCP either, though i dont know the specific laws.
