Ironically this is exactly why I refuse to read it. Anytime people are that hyped about something, it's doomed to fail expectations.
I love the interpretation of Pac-Man where he's a just a lowly worker retrieving golf balls left all over the course by the rich masters and the ghosts are all previous workers who got conked on the head and killed by incoming golf balls in the line of duty.

Really? for all the time you've been here you've never read it because you're too hard headed o put some effort? Even if it fails expectations you'll actually know, not doing something for fear of reprisal is no way to live life. Some times you surprise me spud.

I think this might be a good time for me to bring up that I just finished reading that specific fanfic. It was a good read, nice and long (that's what she said). The man managed to capture the personalities pretty well. I couldn't find any contradictions regarding the canon story (at least, the one with the Hanako good ending). There's also a handful of clever lines that I quite liked. Also, the ending is pretty satisfying.

Thanks for the recommendation btw, Sea.
No problem, off the top of my head 'Direction' is a fantastic story, diverging into the future but doing it better than many.

I'm not sure 'reprisal' works there. Does GP put hits out on whoever reads the story?
And nah, I've never read it because it's 99% sure to disappoint and I'd rather read something with better odds.

I couldn't think fo a better word and I do suppose on your preferance but how would you have any better chance with anotehr story? If everyone who reads it thinks its amazing and as you say theres a 99% chance you're going to like it, what the hell are you searching for? No 100% of people are going to like any given literature and by your logic reading anything at all is pointless because it will no doubt disappoint you (even if the chance of disappointment is 1%) I question this.

That wasn't my logic at all.

So if I wanted to prevent you from reading someone's fanfic, all I'd have to do to manipulate you into steering clear of it would be to say good things about it? I should try that sometimes, it sounds like fun.
On a more serious note, I do appreciate your attitude in a way. Most people, when they believe something is overhyped, do check it out with the specific goal of bashing it in order to restore some imaginary balance. With that in mind, I can only applaud your stance.

Not quite that easy, it's a proportional thing. Every time fanfiction comes up here, even just the word 'fanfiction', the place is bombarded with nothing but high praise for that story. Not even one among a list of great ones, just the one. With a bar set that high, a fanfic so perfect it apparently deserves praise to the exclusion of basically every other, it'll take a while for the expectations to die down to rational levels.
@Keiichi: Everyone does that. It's not even feels anymore, just tradition. XD

The biggest WTF moment I ever had after Emi's rapeface. Rin wasn't described as a pretty girl, that's what I kinda like about her and dislike about Emi, but that face was just so unnerving...

Emi's rape-face haunts my nightmares... forever.
That sounds terrible, I used to have some pretty bad insomnia in my secondary school years, and the slightest thing could make me relapse, almost like
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaany way, in terms of feelsyness recently i've finally got off my ass and read through Hanako's Story, by Trivun (Which I'd recommend to anyone, its a great fic) And it really got me thinking less in a Hisao POV, and more in the girl's/ Theres alot of stuff i'd love to see played out in their perspective, although I doubt Rin's could be written as it'd take about 5 paces per line of dialogue. I feel alot more connected to it looking from each angle, something I think has benefited me as a whole.
