Favourite Colours
Favourite Colours
So, I've played through 3 story arcs so far and have noticed something a little strange. So far everyone seems to have a favorite colour.
Emi's is blue, Hisao is green, Lily is white and Rin is butterflies. The way Emi, whom was my first playthrough, mentions it at such an important time made me wonder as to its significance, which made me pay attention for others, sure enough in both Lilly and Rin's arcs favorite colours are discussed and revealed. Is this just a cultural thing that I'm not aware of? Where everyone in Japan has a favorite colour they treat like an astrological sign or something? Or is this recurring theme somehow an aspect of some greater significance across all arcs?

Re: Favourite Colours
I think that everyone in the world has a favorite color(s). I don't think there's any significance to it other than people like colors.
Re: Favourite Colours
Well, I don't think so... I certainly have no particular preference, nor would I weigh such a preference in the same category of significance to a person's character as "Hey my father was brutally smashed to a dead bloody pulp beside me when I was 11".
Joking aside though, isn't each arc written by someone different? Meaning wouldn't such a commonality have to have been discussed, and is therefore significant in some way? I mean even if it is as common as you think, I still think it's an unreasonably unlikely coincidence that 5(?) different writers would all happen to bring it up.

People tend to like colors that remind them of objects or concepts they like (Dialectical Materialism at work), so most of everyone have a favorite color. You can take a guess at mine

No idea. I like red though, and red oni blue oni is kind of a thing, so... does that maybe matter?

I think she mentions it specifically because it's not important. She starts with her favorite color, then moves on to her inability to sing, and keeps going up the importance scale till she hits the elephant(s) in the room.Abraxis wrote:The way Emi, whom was my first playthrough, mentions it at such an important time made me wonder as to its significance
Re: Favourite Colours
Yeah, Hisao even questions it because he's confused and she explains that she's taking his advice and starting with something silly and easy to talk about. Although, she does mention that he's one of the only people that knows she likes blue best, so it could also be seen as a sign of being really close to him.Atario wrote:I think she mentions it specifically because it's not important. Re: Favourite Colours
That's why I said "joking aside". I realize she was just blurting it out to get all her 'secrets' out there, and that being one of them was a bit of humor, but even still. The fact that the author would have even gone to her favorite colour for that bit of lighthearted humor, rather than her favorite drink, animal, movie, book, music genre, season, whether condition, day of the week, anything... In combination with the fact that other character's favorite colours are also specifically worked into their plots, I find it all a bit convenient.Atario wrote:I think she mentions it specifically because it's not important. My favorite color is blue because Earth's atmosphere is fucking beautiful, so that logic makes sense.Comrade wrote:I like your sense of humor.Abraxis wrote:"Hey my father was brutally smashed to a dead bloody pulp beside me when I was 11".

Purply-blue, mainly for the sea that I spent so much of my time at during my childhood, and purple because it is simply the best, I've no exact clue why other than things in purple are calming to me.
Also in the event I'm sucked back to medevil Europe, and am waring one of my purple shirts, I could be mistaken for royalty. So theres that.

Wouldn't it be ironic if you fell out of a space ship and burnt up in the atmosphere?KeiichiO wrote:My favorite color is blue because Earth's atmosphere is fucking beautiful, so that logic makes sense.Comrade wrote:I like your sense of humor.Abraxis wrote:"Hey my father was brutally smashed to a dead bloody pulp beside me when I was 11".

I don't know, by the way. So don't ask why. I just am.

I think I'd sooner die of lack of oxygen, and extreme cold before I burn up in the atmosphere. Especially since I wouldn't be falling. I'd be floating weightless in the vacuum of space.SpunkySix wrote: Wouldn't it be ironic if you fell out of a space ship and burnt up in the atmosphere?

Anyways, I have no idea how this is relevant, but I do like the conversational matter. Here is not the place, though.

Re: Favourite Colours
I... don't remember Lilly ever saying that. o.o (Wait, now I remember. Had something to do with Snow...)Abraxis wrote:So, I've played through 3 story arcs so far and have noticed something a little strange. So far everyone seems to have a favorite colour.

Interesting enough, white is my favorite color, along side one of my sister's. White means "purity".
Green is normally means "Lucky".
Blue normally means "Calm/Relaxed".
Knowing how random/crazy Rin is... and that she's an artist, she might not favor a certain color over another.
Careful doing Assumptions. Purple normally means "Powerful/Emotional".LemonPirate wrote:Would it be safe to say Hanako's is purple...
Red normally has to do with Anger. Red was once my favorite color. Though, my personally has hugefully changed in the past 3 years. Resulting in my favoring of the color white.SpunkySix wrote:No idea. I like red though, and red oni blue oni is kind of a thing, so... does that maybe matter?
Each route has a letter from Iwanako (the girl that was present when Hisao had his heart attack).Abraxis wrote:Well, I don't think so... So, I wouldn't be surprised if all the writers agreed to say what girl likes what color.

That's some kinda word.Xaredian wrote:hugefully
My favorite color is blue. Blue, for the curious, normally means "blue". I place no great stock in the idea of mere colors representing deep emotional stuff or anything.
But if I had to guess, Lilly likes white. Hanako would enjoy purple. Shizune would favor red. Rin would enjoy orange or green. Emi's a yellow fan. Misha's favorite color is rainbow.
