Pacific Rim was amazing.

Speaking in terms of practicality the whole idea is ridiculous but monsters vs. Kinetic kill weapons isn't as awesome.

Re: Telling friends and/or family?
I've told a few friends about KS and got them to try it out. But my family isn't really into the whole thing, I tried explaining it and they just put the stereotypical, "What is it, some type of porn game?" You don't even know how hard I face palm at that.
Re: Telling friends and/or family?
Well I have an interesting story related to this topic...
A few months ago I was visiting my brother at college and he and my other brother were eating dinner with some of the former brother's friends. One of the friends I already knew, and I wanted him (and my brother's other friends) about KS, but they left before I had the chance...
However, 2 days ago I found out that that friend was recently diagnosed with Arrhythmia.
Funny how the world works...

Re: Telling friends and/or family?
God that happened to me a few days ago... well it was a little different. There is this really obnoxious guy at are school that for some reason a friend of mine is friends with. Every time he comes around he talks about all this weird porn he watches it's all he ever talks about, that or hurting people. Anyway he overheated me talking about KS to my friends and my friend gave him the website. I can hear the dumb bullshit that will come out of his mouth already, sigh. A different friend put it like this "It's like giving a pig without taste buds gourmet food.OneDrop wrote:I've told a few friends about KS and got them to try it out. Part of this is amusing and the other really sad.Lianam wrote:Well I have an interesting story related to this topic...

I know I can't talk to anybody else about it or they'll be alienated by me. That's why I came here.

Re: Telling friends and/or family?
I know one person who plays it so I can talk to him about it, but everyone else that I've asked couldn't give two shits it seems, which is a shame. My brothers don't seem bothered in the slightest (and given one of them is 11, I guess that's a blessing) and I haven't even attempted with my parents - seems like a pretty pointless exercise.
To me, it seems like when I try to describe metal to people - they either get it, or they never will But yeah, it's why communities of like-minded people such as this exist, and where would we be without those?SpunkySix wrote:I know I can't talk to anybody else about it or they'll be alienated by me. Amen. That's why I love Gamefaqs too. Only one person I know, my best friend, likes games as much as I do, and since I'm away at college, I only see him every week or so for maybe two or three hours at a time. It's a really nice outlet.AaronIsCrunchy wrote:I know one person who plays it so I can talk to him about it, but everyone else that I've asked couldn't give two shits it seems, which is a shame. Re: Telling friends and/or family?
According to my family's religion, I shouldn't be playing this game as it involves premarital love and sex scenes. It wouldn't be safe to reveal I don't believe in that religion, so I'm pretending until I get away from my parents.
Right now, the only thing they know about this game is that there's some nice music that sometimes plays on my PC.

You just lost the game.
Re: Telling friends and/or family?
I'm really sorry about that. I truly feel that it is a personal decision to follow religion and nobody else should be able to make you believe something. Keep staying true to your self, and play the game if you can find alone time. It's really nice.Mute wrote:According to my family's religion, I shouldn't be playing this game as it involves premarital love and sex scenes. And just so you know, if you want, you CAN turn the sex scenes off in the options menu. Not sure if that would help?

That wouldn't help because it damages the experience.SpunkySix wrote:I'm really sorry about that. Though now I'm curious exactly how it wouldn't be safe to reveal his lack of belief. Do they keep hacksaws around for the unrepentant, Mute?
I love the interpretation of Pac-Man where he's a just a lowly worker retrieving golf balls left all over the course by the rich masters and the ghosts are all previous workers who got conked on the head and killed by incoming golf balls in the line of duty.

Social exclusion or a permanent atmosphere of hostility in the household can do just as nasty a number on someone than any hacksaw.

Everytime I read thie thread title, I can't help picturing:
"Dad. I have something I want to tell you. I'm gay."
Well, if thats how you've chosen to live your life, I can accept that son."
"And I play Katawa Shoujo."
"SWEET JESUS WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS! DEAR GOD, TAKE ME NOW!"
