I was defeated using more popular characters like Kyon, Haruhi and Yoko, but I managed to beat it with Beckett (from Bloodlines) and Annah-of-the-Shadows (from Torment).

Akinator should EVENTUALLY learn to recognize any character that is shown to him, exclusively on the grounds that while correct information can be input by anybody familiar with the character, false information is either accidental or self-contradictory - and thus, less significant. It'd take considerable concerted effort or massive misinformation for it to "purposefully" misidentify someone.

(Or problems in its "reasoning" algorithm, that is.)

Also, some of the devs playing MIGHT have introduced answers that are correct, but are not known yet.
