You know, an interesting thing is, before I ever found and read KS, I had this thing where I would imagine how I would feel if someone I love got scarred, if I would still love her. I do that sometimes, I consider the worst case scenario and then say to myself that I'd still feel the same way no matter what. Cause truth is, a lot of people talk but few do the walk. I talk, walk, then salute and say "Show me your moves!"
Honestly, if you're willing to walk away from someone because they've gotten scarred, fat, old, or anything at all, you've no right to call it 'love' in the first place.

Are we on the same page here? I think you may have misunderstood what I said. By "walking the walk" I meant backing up what I said with action. I wasn't saying I'd walk away.

Ah sorry. I seem to be good at missing the point. :(

I know you wouldn't walk. You seem like a good person. I was just criticizing anyone who would.

The truth is everyone says that. Try actually being faced with that scenario and see if your hypothetical devotion holds up. It's nothing to claim you "walk the walk" unless you've actually done so. /cynicalpost

Luckily though, love isn't some bizarre force that vanishes instantly when someone gains a few pounds or wrinkles so "the walk" isn't exactly difficult. As for scarring, depending on the severity, I could still love them but I wouldn't stay with them.

Just stab your eyes out. Then you won't care how bad the scars are cuz u can't see them lol, like Lilly but with less blood.

Wouldn't it be better to just put something in your eyes that destroys sight, or have yourself surgically blinded? Stabbing's a bit excessive...

It is amazing how many people aren't able to back up their words. "Oh, we'll like you no matter what happens." before the event happens becomes "Hey, look. It's the freak." after the event happens.

Well, I certainly can back up my words. I'd be moved by sympathy, and if anything, I'd defend the person against their tormentors.

Especially if it were someone like Hanako! I'm the curious type. I like to investigate and see the real details behind something.

People will have to WANT to get used to it. Same logic with doctors who can't be grossed out by anything or by death.

My mind is a lot more active than my facial expressions and words in cases like these. Like the one guy I saw a few weeks ago. Mentally I might be like "oh crap!" but my face won't give that reaction away largely. My eyes might widen for a moment, but that's it. After that point, I could look the person right in the eye and be like "What's up" as if they were anyone else. Someone like Hanako, for instance. As I'm getting closer to her, I'd notice her face. But a second after making eye contact, I'd smile and be like, "Hello." Cause you know, cute Japanese girl. A scarred face is not going to hold me back. In fact it will push me onward even if only to spite all the others who can't make themselves do what I do naturally.

I remember when I was in 8th grade. I said to my teacher in a daily journal entry, "If there was someone who had purple skin, I'd want to be their friend right away." It's because people with differences draw my attention because I know all of the negative attention they will get.

All in all, I'm just being myself, naturally.

I believe that was the thinking behind Barney the Dinosaur.

I'd check to see that they're not a zombie before befriending a purple-skinned person.

Actually, I saw someone long ago, half his face was purple, like a black and blue mark or something. I was much younger then, so I may have been creeped out a bit. However, it wasn't someone I knew at all, just someone I passed by somewhere.

I befriend people based on personality... Though, a purple-skinned person would be very hard to miss, and I'd probably want to end up close enough to them to ask why they have purple skin...
