That's one of the few times I felt for him. Like he was an actual person worth knowing.
He was also pretty funny throughout Shizune's route. "It should be. With rings. Big rings with emblems. And gold."
But in every other appearance, I wanted little more than to either give him the finger and walk off or punch him in the face, depending on context.
I agree haha, everytime I saw him I just felt like punching him right in the mouth, but true to his form every now and the he would give us a gold quote.

If I ever actually manage to get a girlfriend (not hopeful) and things go poorly, that will be the opening line of my breakup speech. I will get the shit slapped outta me but it will totally be worth it. I'll do it the cliche way too, in a crowded restaurant and all. Just for added hilarity.

Kenji's route was actually full of feels too. Especially when he told Hisao of his past; The trauma with the bird

Yeah, I don't know about that, but it's the sort of thing I say when people screw up.

Holding me up on the day of the festival? I'd probably have blown him off and kept walking. Asking me for pizza money while naked in the shower? I'd probably want to punch him. Realistically, I wouldn't, because violence doesn't really get you very far, but...

I created a character for myself as I would exist in KS. There's a thread on that somewhere and I wish it wasn't dead, but I also wish that character had somewere to go other than my head, and he doesn't. Nonetheless, part of his backstory involves a running rivalry with Kenji. The two practically hate each other, and for two weeks it degenerated to them messing with each other. Like blasting music at the wall all night, or sending them a package with a large bomb that spews foam everywhere.

He could go into fanfiction... And you can always revive the thread. We've got some new people around.

I think Kenji really helped the story along in parts though, you know he brightened up the mood in certain deep parts of arcs. Still though, I really felt like punching him in the majority of the arcs if it wasn't for those lines that he like to pop out every now and then.

I think its kinda strange how he seems so out of it for almost a whole act. Then will randomly say something normal. I cannot remember which act but doesn't he offer to talk Hisao's problems over with him at one point?

He's a strange lad.

My thought provoking scene was fairly early, so I'll help lukesrp out and bring it back on topic.

My favorite scene was during the Lilly route, when Hisao gives her the wooden musicbox before she goes off to Scotland.

It was just so sublimely innocent. There were no relationship problems, Lily wasn't worry about her family or going back to Scotland, Hanako was all settled, there were no exams or things to worry about.

It was just sort of the first blossom of many into a full relationship, and by far the deepest for me. Baby steps into a full crescendo, if you will.

Do you have any ideas on what the music box may represent? There is always some significance with situations like these. Maybe to symbolize Hisao's affection for her as this may start the path to him realising he is in love with her and wants to be with her. Also at the end of her arc, when Lilly leave's the music box on Hisao's bed side table in the hospital, the music box also represents something else then - it would be too linear for it just to be placed to show Hisao that Lilly is still around.

The music box is a gift. It represents a gift. The only significance is that Hisao likes Lilly enough to get her a gift. At the end, it's there to signal Lilly's presence in a suitably emotional manner. And, being a gift, it still represents a gift there.

Not every bloody thing has to be some deep symbolism. Sometimes, believe it or not, things just aren't that significant. Also, I'm not sure "linear" is the right word there.

Yeah, I wouldn't try and read into it too much. I'm doing a lot of college English work nowadays, and I find that sometimes massacring something with symbolism and implications just ruins it. Music-boxes are music-boxes, and tea is tea. Could the tea represent Lilly's latent desire for love because it has to be brewed with hot water, signifying that effort is required to break through her dignified, classic, "tea-drinking" background?

Yes, it could. But it probably doesn't, and you'd be missing the big point anyway.

Yeah, I think I can blame my Year 12 English teacher for my now over-analytical English mind.

Surprisingly, the most thought provoking scenes for me are from Shizune's route.
Firstly the scene where Kenji removes his glasses and it plays "Friendship" on the background. For the first time I felt he was more than just a nuisance.
Secondly, the scene where Misha confesses her love for Shizune.
