Sick Day (A short Lilly fic)
Today is not going as I had planned.
My original plans for the day had been centred on the love of my life, one Lilly Satou. I had intended to take her out to whisk her away to a concert of classical music, and follow that with dinner at a nearby restaurant that manages to serve high-end food at a price that doesn't send my wallet into a state of cardiac arrest. In fact I had even been saving my meagre allowance for the last few weeks just so I could afford a little extra extravagance whilst we were dining. It would have been the perfect date, with the perfect girl.
However, I'm stuck here in bed with a splitting headache and a cold so bad it could freeze water at 100 paces. And instead of enjoying music and a meal, Lilly is here providing a near endless flow of soup, medicine and love. I think I need that last one the most. As she walks over to me again, this time carrying a large box of tissues, I pull myself upright. Which of course causes another bout of coughing. Hearing this, Lilly frowns.
"Are you sure you're alright? It sounds like you have a chest infection or something."
"I'm fine, it's just a bad cold." She seems unconvinced, however. Possibly due to my voice sounding like I just swallowed a bag of gravel followed by a chaser of nails and razorblades. "Honestly, Lilly. You don't see me worrying this much whenever you're ill."
Her worried frown disappears and is replaced by a small grin; the one she uses when she recalls something I had done that was particularly stupid. At least we're alone this time. Hanako couldn't look me in the eye for days when Lilly shared what had happened at the lake.
"Oh, really? But what about that time when you almost ended up duelling Mr Hakamichi in a panicked attempt to get me some paracetamol?"
I groan. "Oh god, don't remind me about that. Shizune tells me that her father is still ranting about his success over me and how the impudent youth of today could never hope to defeat him."
Laughing, she puts down the tissues on the table beside me and sits on the edge of the bed.
"In all seriousness though, I think you should take a nap. I'll come back later."
A nap? That... That sounds good, actually. But there's one small problem with her plan. That can be rectified though.
"Do you have to leave? Why don't you join me?"
Clearly she was already entertaining the idea before I mentioned it, because as soon as I mention it she climbs in next to me. Resting my head on her lap, I allow the gentle motion of her breathing to lull me to sleep. Just before I lose consciousness, one last thought enters my head.
Maybe today isn't so bad after all.

Re: Sick Day (A short Lilly fic)
Cheers, guys. Usually pretty unhappy with anything I try to write, so it's good to see that I'm not as bad as I think.
I'll try to write more, but I've got exams and stuff coming up, so going to be fairly busy over the next few months

Shattering your dreams since '94. I also fought COVID in '20 and '21, and all I got was this lousy forum sig.

Re: Sick Day (A short Lilly fic)
Well, if Hisao has to be mothered, Lilly's the girl to do it. Of course, if it were Emi instead, she could just give his immune system another lecture.
Love the noodle incidents, BTW. I can't be the only one who wants to know exactly how Hisao almost ended up dueling Jigoro.
Lilly had better be careful, though. Climbing into bed with a sick person... If they both end up sick, Hanako would have to take care of them. (Which could be pretty amusing to see...)
