Can't run Katawa Shoujo on Kubuntu 12.04 64bits

OK, this is the 1st time I ever enter this forum, but I have been playing KS for a while now.
Recently however, I can't do it anymore as I can't run the freaking game!
I just installed Kubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 bits and when I tried to run the KS copy that I backed up before,
nothing happened. Usually, on linux, a window would be displayed asking me if I want to run or edit the script,
but not even that happened.

I searched in the internet for a while (including this forum before posting), and tried a couple of things but
nothing worked. So far all I managed to get was this output:

Could not find a python that runs on your platform. Sorry.

At 1st I thought maybe it was because I didn't installed either python or pygame (very unlikely as python is
installed natively and pygame comes along with the game), but I already confirmed that's not the case;
both muon package manager and APT tell me I have those packages installed.

I haven't actually finished the game, and in the past I lost all my saved files because I didn't backed up the
correct file, prompting me to start all over again, and I don't want that to happen again, so
please if anybody here have any idea about this, let me know T_T

PS: I said I tried to run the game from a backed up file I have, but since that didn't worked,
I downloaded it again with just the same results. Also, I have the exact same problem trying to
run Ren 'py, so I just don't know what I am doing wrong. I also tried to change the permissions of the
script, but it wasn't necessary as it already had the correct permissions. Please help, I'm running out
of ideas!! >.<

OK, forget it. I decided to give up KS on linux and play it on windows. Fortunatetly,
save files from the linux and the windows versions are identical, so it doesn't matter in
which platform I am playing, I can load the game from where I left it just fine. ^_^

However, the problem on linux is still there, for whoever who has an idea about it.
As I said already, not only that happens with KS, but also with Ren'py. I try to run
Ren'py and I get the exact same output. I was wondering maybe it is because I'm running
a 64bit version?
