Re: Secret Santa 2020 - Story collection
Thanks a lot for the kind words, guys! Made my day. This all turned out much better than I thought I could have reasonably hoped for. Yes, I could have stated the prompt as "write a story about taking personal initiative." That would have meant almost exactly the same thing, and it would h...

Me: "Here we go, my first attempt at submitting something to the forum after years of telling myself I would someday. I hope the prompt isn't too hard!" nuclearstudent: "Auftragstaktik" Me: "Oh" In this, my first attempt at voluntary creative writing, I attempted to mak...

Re: Secret Santa 2020 - Story collection
I haven't read all of them yet and idk when I will, but I just wanted to say before I forget that I really liked Dear Hisao and Rising Steam. The diary-style entries in Dear Hisao were engaging, and I'm glad there was a happy ending. And as for Rising Steam, honestly I'm just a huge sucker for well-...

Re: Secret Santa 2020 - Story collection
Christmas at Rock Bottom Very nice. Makes good use of the source material to create some heavy drama in a very short bit of writing. I feel like a lot of people on here have trouble capturing Lilly's less pleasant side, but it felt very believable here. Fitting enough for someone who doesn't like L...

Re: To Miss the Mark - An OC Pseudo-Route (Hitomi)
Finally got around to catching up. Really, there isn't much left for me to say, given that analyses of your chapters end up being longer than some of the actual fanfics on this forum  I guess if there are any particular criticisms I'd want to echo it comes down to two: That we should have gotte...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20200907 Another Omake Scene)
I.. uh.. was in elementary school when this one was written.. oh boy.. I was in my third year of college. If anyone needs me I'll be over in the corner crumbling into a skeleton like the dude who drank from the wrong goblet in Last Crusade. If it makes any difference, I read KS in my early teens an...

Re: Rin Epilogue: The Long Road (Updated 15/9/2020)
“Greetings, my name is Nanako Iwai, but please call me Iwanako.” Wait, that's illegal. Can you do that? Anyway, this remains my favorite Rin fic. I enjoyed the take on Hisao's friends and family for sure. That's quite the cliffhanger you left us on. Looking forward to the continuation, whenev...

Re: To Miss the Mark - An OC Pseudo-Route (Hitomi)
Finally got around to checking this one out. I'm really enjoying it so far! This is probably one of my favorite implementations of OCs on this forum, her presence in the world and interactions with existing characters feels natural and engaging. I like how you're handling Hisao's struggles as well. ...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20200907 Another Omake Scene)
I.. uh.. was in elementary school when this one was written.. oh boy.. Wait. This was supposed to be a discussion, not an existential crisis. Back on topic then. As was inevitable, these characters feel so far removed from how I know them that it's probably better to just think of them as completely...

Re: Rebound - A Lilly NE Epilogue / Iwanako Story
I'm far from an expert when it comes to scenes like this, but I definitely think it's a good addition. It does feel a bit awkward and rushed; perhaps a bit like going through the motions to reach the end? But maybe it's an inevitable kind of awkwardness for this scene, as you've said. In any case, I...

Re: A Hostess to Lavender (Hanako Bad End Continuation)
Nice update! Alcohol really can bring out new sides from people, and I like how it interacted with and brought out some of the lingering insecurities and anger she's been bottling up along with the newfound confidence.

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20200824 Zade Wither)
Me : "Hey, looks like everyone's having a fun conversation about this one. Let's join in!" * sees the entire first part is condensed into a single large paragraph * Me : "Oh no" ...Oh boy. Well this lunch is going to be interesting. I can only assume that this is why the story s...

Re: A Hostess to Lavender (Hanako Bad End Continuation)
I think this is a good start! Nothing wrong at all with taking time to build up to the main premise. After all, with an idea as outlandish as Hanako working in a job like that, I think this much buildup was necessary to make it believable. I like how you're not relying too much on the source materia...

I like it! Can't really think of much else to say at the moment. If you keep writing it, I'll keep reading it.

Re: Golden Room
Thanks for posting what you had, I hope it gave you the closure you were looking for. I just read it for the first time, I enjoyed it. It's interesting how you hit such similar beats to the "Hisao showing his scar to Hanako" scene that ended up being in the final release. I gotta say thoug...
