Re: Am I the only one who feels that Hanako's arc is overrat

Yes, now we can start saying "OMG RIN IS SO CUTE UGUU" Lay off the criticism of people's favourites, will you? It's probably the worst thing about this fandom. Everybody bitching about which girl is the best, when it's clear that there isn't one. He's probably criticising the rabid fanboy...

Re: Getting the feels, should I play the other story paths?

Of course you should play the other routes, if you enjoyed the first one then it's a no-brainer. Why the hell would you start a game and then only finish 1/5 of it? Silly huh? As Xanatos already pointed out, if Emi's managed to get you depressed than Rin's will most likely destroy you. Lilly is a go...

Re: Recommend a VN

Regarding this series, is there one I should play first? It seems to be generally recommended to play them in the order they were released. Never7 > Ever17 > Remember11. Never7 is apparently the worst of the lot by a long mile, and also has the worst artwork, hence why everyone says to play it first.

Re: Katawa Shoujo on Steam?

VALVE wouldn't accept KS due to the sex. That's not true, there's some games on Steam (Mass Effect and The Witcher I believe?) with sex. Granted, they're big-budget AAA titles, which probably give them a free pass rather than it being a small indie game. Plus, I'm sure that if VALVE accepted a game...

Re: Katawa Shoujo on Steam?

No chance. Apparently Steam don't want to be affiliated with pornography. Even then KS is popular enough without Steam.

Re: Recommend a VN

I still have the kira ending before me and i heard from serveral people that i should do hers at least twice now since there is a true ending which you only get when you do her and when you have unlocked her true ending. Its a bit sad that way since everyone was telling me to do her last so i might...

Re: Recommend a VN

Writing is quite solid altho it cant cope with KS ( from beeing roughly three hours in ). Kira Kira apparently has fantastic writing in Japanese (I have seen it likened to Forest, Cross Channel and Symphonic Rain) but the Mangagamer translation didn't do it any justice. I havent seen any ending yet...

Re: KS like books

Its curious that people that play Visual novels wont read romantic novels, isn't it? Well I gave them a shot but I didn't like them, I think it's a genre more suited to the VN medium. I learned my lesson after Twilight. Lolita was pretty good, but I wouldn't necessarily call that "romance"...

Re: KS like books

I unfortunately can't recommend any books (I think most emotional books would be romance, which I don't read), but I would recommend the visual novel Symphonic Rain as it shares many similarities with KS emotionally except taken up a few notches. Clannad is apparently very emotional as well. Actuall...

Re: Should I do the bad ends too...?

Would it really have been a neutral end in that case? Sounds outright bad to me. Really, it was even bad enough as-is. I don't get why everyone calls it neutral in the first place. I don't get why they are called neutral ends either. Lilly's and Rin's ones were both pretty bad (and in the lat...

Re: Should I do the bad ends too...?

Yes, you should definitely do the bad and neutral ends as they contain some of the best parts of the entire VN (Rin neutral and Shizune bad for example) and are very enjoyable. VNs generally don't do bad ends well (or not in my experience) but KS is one of the few in which they were great. Even if y...

Re: Visual Novel General

I've been searching in youtube about the VN "A drug that makes you dream" I wonder if it really is good. Because there's a murder case at one particular route. (strangling to death, to be precise) I'm not sure if it's any romantic or nice. It sounds fucked up more than anything else. So, ...

Re: KS has left me with an empty feeling.

I said the same thing in a thread yesterday, but it works so I'll say it again. Just read a book, play a game, watch a film or do what I did and move onto another VN. Providing it has a good enough story the emptiness will be gone in a day or two.

Re: Tips on dealing with Katawa Soujo depression .

I agree with Tomate, KS is just like any other good story and reading a book, watching a film, playing a game or reading another VN will just abolish any depression you may have. Shouldn't last for more than a couple of days.

Re: Visual Novel General

Pacing-wise i agree, some parts drag on and get irritating but then again Muv-Luv and Ever17 are hells where pacing goes to die, and they still kick ass. Clearly you have never played Kira Kira, the pacing in that was just terrible. Well the pacing in UBW seems to be an awful lot better than it was...
