Yes... YES!
"Ooh, the tea's a bit hot today!"
"Well yeah, that's what kettles do..."
"..."
"..."
"...Well."

Rin is genderfluid and pansexual.
I have no idea what those words mean, but it gives me the impression that she doesn't really care who she gets with so long as she likes them. Sounds about right :P
Shizune isn't a domme, she's a switch. She's more about the struggle, than the actual domination, and finds it even hotter if she loses the struggle and becomes the sub.
I find this strangely arousing.
Hanako's totally into steampunk.
This is so obscure I love it :D

I'm also kinda totally steal Rhodri's Miki theory.

That's exactly what pansexuality is. I personally feel it's a very beautiful way to live.

Genderfluidity, however, is having characteristics of both the male and female sex. 'Genderqueer' is another term for this.

Also, just sayin'. I'm both of these.

*nods* You may have missed it before, but the last time we went down this path I mentioned that the only evidence we have in canon of anyone's age are (a) the date of Hanako's eighteenth birthday; (b) Lilly mentioning that she's eighteen; and (c) Emi stating she's about a year older than everyone. We only have dev statements that everyone else is eighteen and when their birthdays are. Thus, Emi could easily be eighteen-and-a-half and everyone else seventeen if you just give them different birthdays in your headcanon.

The VN > Reality (I'm not budging on the Japanese school law stuff, even if dev statements contradict it) > Developer statements (unless they're that the VN will be updated in a future release, then they win) > Fanfiction not released by developers

The only absolute canon is the VN, though, and anything else can be contradicted (and sometimes dev statements can be, too, by non-VN sources other than reality). And, reality will occasionally trump the VN when I need to do world-building.
I generally agree, except when the VN contradicts itself (most often due to separate route branches). Then I attempt to follow canon-within-route (i.e. canon outside the route < canon within the route I'm following). So for AtD, following Lilly's neutral ending, I'd favour material from inside that route against stuff outside (e.g. from Shizune's route) where they don't quite mesh.

In my headcanon, there are actually five classes per floor level — typically, floor layout is like this: stairway, classrooms 1 (e.g. 3-1), 2, 3, and 4; specialist classrooms (e.g. Lilly's tea room, sign language classroom); classroom 5; music room, art room or lab; emergency staircase (there ought to be one).

I cheated and gave everyone birthdays based on all that. Emi's a full year ahead because the Japanese do allow exceptions and exemptions. Full list is here. :)

Whereas I come up with attempts to rectify the contradiction. One such rectification is how I went about solving the "How did Hisao get from Yamaku to the Hakamichi home by cab in Lilly's good ending?" Answer: that wasn't actually where he went. I'm a bit giddy that nobody's even noticed it yet :) .

Actually, we have the month at which Lilly turned 18 (February in the same year in which Hisao and Hanako turned 18, being the year in which the VN is set) in canon, too.

Which contradicts Japanese School Law under normal circumstances, requiring abnormal circumstances to resolve it. (I choose to use the fact that the Satous were rich and straight-up abused the law, claiming that Lilly was developmentally delayed, to reconcile it, because the other way I have to reconcile parts of Lilly's storyline require that she have gone to specific schools, all of which are on the Japanese educational calendar.)

Also, I can actually resolve Emi only being 18 but being "a year older than Hisao" who is also 18 (and only a month or two older, his birthday being April 1 to May 23 or so roughly (he would've mentioned it if it were after that date, as, I'm thinking he was released from the hospital on June 1 or 2, and he started at Yamaku on June 4)), through a trick of language. Had Emi not skipped a year for rehab, she would have been a year ahead of, or a "year older" than, Hisao.

Rin, though, I'm thinking she's either 17 during the events of the VN, or was considered developmentally delayed (actually, at age 6, she COULD have been legitimately considered developmentally delayed).

Also, I was under the impression that genderfluidity was actually a subset of genderqueer, specifically referring to a varying gender identity, rather than just a non-binary identity. (Hrm, now I'm wondering whether I really should be using female pronouns for Rin, too...)

Subsets, genres, blah, blah, blah. There's too many classifications and terms for things. I think you're actually thinking of 'transgender', though, I could be wrong.

And while I like to believe Rin is genderfluid, I definitely think she identifies as female. With how blunt she can be, she would probably say whether or not she's okay with being referred to as 'female', though, I suppose she does have a hard time expressing her feelings...

Whereas I was under the impression that transgender referred exclusively to binary identities that were opposite of that assigned at birth, and genderqueer was everything that didn't fall inside cisgender or transgender?

Again, there are WAY too many fucking terms for subjects that are all related. I'm an active supporter of the LGBT, but I really don't care enough to learn all these terms when they hardly differ.

Here's a little headcanon of my own..mainly on Yamaku High's background. It

Yamaku High was established in late 1999 under the 'Yamaku Charter', with the support of both the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health with aims originally to raise the awareness and support of the local population concerning those who are disabled or unable to attend normal studies. In accordance with the constitution of Japan, Chapter III, Article 26 and Article 27, the aim of Yamaku High is to produce students who would later be seen as equal in the eyes of society regardless of their disability. Aside from its education standard, the school is to implement trained medical staffs that are capable to respond 24/7 in case of emergency and thus, Yamaku will be supported by the local hospital for its medical treatment in case of extreme conditions where the school is unequipped to handle the situation.

Furthermore, the location of the school will be set in Sendai in Miyagi perfecture, maintaining the city's status as a 'Gakuto' (academic city).

...mainly develop that to explain Yamaku's facilities which are way above normal schools. Not to mention, the location itself (according to Cpl_crud) is where the remains of the Sendai castle is, so I assume it's somewhere around there--Tohoku university is pretty close too. Huh...I should think about visiting Sendai this winter...

The rest of the headcanon follows whichever girl takes Hisao (Shizune, in my case).

That's a pretty in-depth, well thought out headcanon. Almost a bit too thought out...

It's my headcanon that Rin likes to stare at the ceiling for hours, naked, while listening to Pink Floyd. Okay, I'm definitely projecting now...

My headcanon is that both the Satous and the Hakamichis are part of the school's donor base.

Wow, Megmeru, that's quite... Academic? :P I'd never really considered anything like that

Okay, all this chat about Takashi on Random Discussion, and I had an epiphany.

His bandaged ear.

From my experience at least, covering or enclosing an ear does absolutely fuck all to alleviate the ringing of tinnitus... In fact it may just have the opposite affect by effectively blocking out all sounds except the ringing, making it more prominent.
This is not a secret withheld from medical professionals, it's common sense. So why bandage it?

Maybe he's recently had surgury to try and help it. I don't know it that's actually a thing yet, but whatever.

Or maybe... Just maybe...
Maybe the ringing got to him, one night.
Maybe he got a little drunk and found he just couldn't ignore it.
Maybe he was alone in his room, with nobody to drown out the godawful noise with innane chatter.
Maybe his short temper and smuggled alcohol got the better of his judgement.
Maybe he saw a lonely paintbrush, his eyes blurry with frustrated tears.

"I can't hear the ringing if I can't hear..."

Maybe Taro called for help after hearing agonised screaming from across the hall.
Maybe the medical staff arrived to find a young, tormented, screaming artist with a paintbrush jammed into his right ear canal.
Maybe Takashi was put on night-watch.
Maybe that's why Takashi's ear is bandaged.
