La traducción está genial! Pero ya he notado algunos errores. Prefieren que yo haga una compilación de todos los errores de traducción mientras juego y se les doy todas al mismo tiempo (puede tardar muchos meses hasta que yo termine el juego), o voy postando aqui siempre que encuentro algun error grave? Por ejemplo, en esta escena de la biblioteca con Hanako: http://prntscr.com/5753s2 , el inglés "pretend" significa "fingir", y no "pretender".
Nota: soy brasileño, de forma que mi español no es perfecto

Hola. Disculpa la respuesta tardía. Vi tu post casi el mismo día en que lo publicaste, pero tenía otras preocupaciones en ese momento y, aunque ya esté resuelto aquel asunto, se me olvidó responderte
En el caso de pretend -> pretender creo que es evidente que fue de esos casos en los que se nos cruzan los cables entre el inglés y el español, espero que no sean tantos los errores así, pero ya quién sabe.
El "detalle" es que estas correcciones no estoy seguro de si entrarían en alguna versión nueva del juego, porque eso es algo que se tendría que discutir con alguien del equipo desarrollador, y de ellos dependería más que de nosotros.
Ahora que si sigues interesado en hacer esa compilación, lo mejor sería tener los errores en una sola lista indicando la línea, el acto y la ruta; o en el caso del acto 1, la línea y el día en que aparecen.

Yo al 'Pretende' ese no lo veo mal. No es un termino comun para la circumstancia, pero es valido gramaticamente.

Tendria que darle una leida a la traduccion uno de estos dias. Apenas termine con los finales voy a ver si la leo.

Eso es lo que temía. El juego ya está un poco viejito y creo que solo lanzarían una nueva versión si hubiese una nova traducción. Visto la edad del juego, su gran tallo/escopo y las limitaciones impuestas (yo querría mucho hacer una traducción al portugués, pero después de leer esto: http://ks.renai.us/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4718 creo que eso no sea posible, ya que el portugués no se encuentra entre las lenguas del Acto 1), dudo mucho que eso venga a ocurrir.
Además, juego principalmente a la versión francesa de la traducción, pues estoy aprendiendo esa lengua. Suelo usar la española (o la inglesa) cuando encuentro un término en francés que no conozco.
Por fin, he encontrado muy pocos errores en la traducción española, al contrario de lo que pensaba. Asi creo que no voy a darme el trabajo de compilar los pequenitos errores, y ni dar trabajo a ti y la equipa de Four Leaf Studios de se los corrigir.

Muchísimas gracias por tu trabajo con la traducción! Sé que debe haber sido increiblemente molesto trabajar en ella por 2+ años, y no fué por nada! Me ha ayudado mucho a retomar mi español. Gente como tú y tus compañeros de traducción hacen el mundo un sitio mejor!

Edit: Agora me acordé de algo más: algunas veces la traducción española es cuasi identica a la francesa, incluso en la escoja de la palavra exacta para traducir un término dificil en inglés. Podrían ustedes haber tomado como base la traducción francesa cuando no entendian lo que queria decir el inglés?

Hubo algunas ocasiones durante el acto 1 en las que comparamos lo que teníamos con las traducciones francesas e italianas, principalmente porque éramos en ese entonces dos personas únicamente y rara vez había alguien más con quien discutir, y cuando llegábamos a estar en desacuerdo (que no era algo tan raro, que digamos), consultábamos esas otras para buscar diferentes ideas y discutirlas.
Pero ya que pasamos a los actos de más adelante nos las arreglamos por nuestra cuenta, por parte porque ya éramos más gente que podría votar alguna opinión, por otra porque sería demasiado trabajo estar checando en otras fuentes, aparte de que (si mal no recuerdo) antes lo podíamos hacer porque teníamos acceso al acto 1 en esos idiomas.
Gran parte de lo que se ve ahora es resultado de votaciones para ver qué quedaba mejor, pero sí hubo varios casos en los que simplemente dijimos "al diablo, así queda porque yo digo", porque andar esperando a otras personas a ver qué decían era demasiado tardado. De todos modos los correctores luego llegaban y echaban por tierra algunas de nuestras decisiones arbitrarias, o decían que estábamos discutiendo algo que no había necesidad de discutir y que mejor le siguiéramos.

When I played Katawa Shoujo for the first time, I had to read it in English. I got a new PC and wanted to play it again, after a couple of years. So I went to download it and... Oh my God! It's in Spanish, finally! I should try it, maybe I'll enjoy KS more in my native language.

I couldn't read beyond the prologue. Well, not exactly, I just stood it until Misha appeared, so I could read the "Wahaha!" part.
I'm from Spain and no, it's not because of the idioms or expressions used in Latin America. I can stand that they use ustedes instead of vosotros, I don't mind if they use pendejo instead of estúpido, it's perfectly fine if they use en la mañana instead of por la mañana.

BUT Katawa Shoujo has a HORRIBLE translation to Spanish. It's filled with false friends and orthopedic grammar, no one would EVER talk like that, not here, not in America. No, condition (heart condition) is NOT condición, it's enfermedad or problema. Everyone with little effort and Wordreference could have done much better. I'd say more, every Spanish native speaker would notice that most phrases don't make sense if you don't know which English words they resemble. I'm not a pro, but even I could have done better. And that was one word I can remember, but the prologue was infested by things like that.

It's a pity that the official translation was so bad. I assume there's not going to be a new one even if I had time and offered myself, but I had to say it, at least. If you're not going to do things well, or try to do it well, at least don't show it publicly, seriously. Especially considering the nice work Katawa Shoujo is.

Since you likely didn't check our blog, I'll give you a quick breakdown of our philosophy: The idea was to make a Latin American Spanish translation. That meant making it sound as comfortable for as many Spanish speaking people in our continent as possible (or at least as much as the original prose, and our skill, allowed). We strayed from what we call "regionalismos" as much as we could, such as "vosotros", "pendejo", "popote", "vale", among many others. That meant discussions, revisions and corrections at various points in the process, either because there were issues with following conventions, what idioms were more appropriate (and understood in more regions), grammar mistakes, etc. Even false friends.

We welcome criticism, good and bad, as long as we can extract something useful from it. Even though chances of us tackling a similar thing in the future, at least as a group, is slim, we do want to know what was it that we did wrong and then try to learn from it.

On one side, we're really tired of Katawa Shoujo. On the other, we did invest a lot of time and work into this translation and as much shit as we give to this game, we aren't comfortable knowing that it has mistakes still in it, and those could be fixed with some help. Then again, as I've said before, even if we decided to really get back into it, this is a matter that would have to be discussed with the developers, since they have the final say about what gets released and when.

I'll give you that. Juno helped me with that waaaaaay before the actual group was formed. There were no conventions and a lot of stuff was made on the fly, some of which then was totally different in the final translation.
