I speak for myself, but there are a lot of girls that I found very ordinary at first, but I found more attractive by knowing them better and with an emotional connection.
Of course, that don't makes magnificent a woman who I have ever find ugly.

But as all the girls in KS are pretty, that can make the difference. (As I don't find Shizune so beautiful because I don't like aggressive women and I find Hanako the prettiest because she has a certain sweetness that I like; but Lilly is really not far)

My theory is that there is a difference between physical attraction and emotional attachment.

A relationship consisting of mainly physical attraction is what you'd call a fuckbuddy.
A relationship based mainly on emotional attachment is a friendship or unconditional love, like that of family.
A combination of physical and emotional results in, what I call, romance potential.

I will write it in detail, after I iron out some kinks in my theory, and title the book "What is Love? (baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me no more)"

Personally, I don't pretend to know what is love.

Western civilization started in and so has heavy influences in Ancient Greece. They and subsequently the Romans absolutely adored blonde hair and blue eyes. The sunny Mediterranean climate meant it was especially rare and exotic. That ideal has carried through into modern Western society, or have you not noticed how many women bleach their hair blonde?
