Huh. Looks a little like the cover of a paperback novel or something. Not sure how I feel about it…

Yeah... I think I like it as a piece of art, but the style doesn't agree with how I picture the characters.

It's a little bit like someone doing a cover of your favorite song. You're going to like one version better than the other, and the lesser version will just seem "Wrong." Doesn't mean the cover's bad, it's just personal preference.

I literally can't think of anything more heart attack-inducingly adorable than Emi feeding Misha parfait.

Don't mind me, I'll just be keeling over now..

I specifically asked him not to do it like typical fanart, meaning in the anime style. Instead of seeing them as characters in a game, I wanted to see them as "realistic" people. And he did draw one of just Rin in this style before, but it was more dark and sad. That's why I thought of a more "happy" situation. This is supposed to be after the end of the story, and Rin is finally content and happy with herself. And Emi is... well... Emi...

I am the only one who finds it good ? the style is unusual for Katawa Shoujo, but it's well done. ( At first I did not like at all, but the more I see it again more i like it now)
I like the style anyway.

I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea because it's not anime style, but don't blame the artist, that decision was mine, I saw a "realistic" depiction of Rin that he drew and it really captivated me as I saw her as a real person, and that's why I asked for this drawing as well, specifically not to be done in an anime style. And clear from the beginning is that Rin is the center of attention for this pic. While I didn't draw it, the theme of it, setting, and their poses were my decision, so go easy on it. :-P

Really love that artwork done in different style.

Out of curiosity, how much did it cost to commission?

Emi looks just a a little odd, but I love the realistic Rin and Hisao.

Well, it might look like it's something simple that could have been done over a single day, it really was the two of us communicating via email back and forth over several weeks, starting with me describing a concept and getting feedback from the artist, then to concept sketches, to each I gave my feedback for changes, then once a final concept is agreed upon, he would send me updates on the details to make sure I'm ok with the direction it was going. And it was also agreed from the beginning that since there were several different routes he could have taken regarding Rin's faces, that he would give me several rough sketches of them in various styles, and so this actually wasn't the first style for Rin's face. He gave me a drawing of her face in a different style, but after seeing it and some deliberation, I asked him to go the same realistic route with her face as he did in a previous Rin drawing he did that wasn't part of a commission work. And even after that, the "final" version was actually altered twice based on some feedback of mine, so this would be like the 3rd version of the final version, obviously the full version is much higher resolution than this one. So it took decent amount of effort and time from the artist, so while I don't know what is considered cheap or expensive when it comes to commissioning artwork, since this is my first one, but it wasn't "cheap" as in under $100 cheap, but it wasn't "expensive" to where it took financial planning either. I rather not get too detailed with the pricing, but it's not anything that will really hit you hard or anything. But to me, considering how much the artist worked with me on the idea and on changes, the amount of time that was put into it was worth how much it cost.

And in the end, I really like the result, I just wanted to see an image of Rin enjoying what looks like a bit of free time where the three of them could goof off a little bit. :-)
