I played KS while having a real life GF. Surprisingly, we (re-*)met at January 4th 2007. We're married for 2,5 years now, she still dislikes KS.

* - We were in the same class when we entered school. I fell in love her from the first day. I can call her my first love, I guess. She studied there until 6th grade, then left for other school. I left at 7th grade. And (by my efforts) after 7 years we met again. Everything_went_better_than_expected.JPG

Why does she dislike KS?
Also a question, does she like the 50 Shades or Game of Thrones series?

I did not have a girlfriend when I first played KS, which was about two years ago (almost to the week). However, mid-last year I did meet this one girl online (call her "M" for now). We've become good friends at this point, but can't really advance much further than that until certain rl issues get sorted out for both of us (she already knows I like her though). I've only mentioned KS to her in passing, but never explained what it was, so there's no conflict there (yet lol).

On the subject of how I might view KS and its lessons now that I've grown a bit closer to someone, I still say that it's more of a help than a hindrance. It's the kind of thing that can start to show you what it actually means to care for and respect someone. However, don't let that fool you into thinking that's the be-all and end-all of it, or that whatever you learn from KS will come automatically to you irl. In the relatively brief time I've known M, I've already flirted with danger once or twice - the KS comparisons were indeed in my head, but it was mostly M's words that convinced me to back away from what I was doing. Without a doubt, humans are complicated beings, and that is simultaneously a testament to how good KS's writing is and the fact that it is still just fiction.

...'Scuse me, but you have confused me. Since KS has been published only a little more than two years ago, this would mean that you played it while having a wife, wouldn't it?

Not that what you said wouldn't apply, just wondering.

I feel like 50 Shades of Katawa would be a bizarre crossover.

I was actually making a comment that if she likes those two series, she has no room to talk

All three involve sex?
Except GoT and 50Shades are just straight up porn-with-plot.

Making fun of the fact that some people can go "Oh, ew that's disgusting. Sex with crippled girls?" *opens 50 Shades of Gray and reads it*
Note: 50 Shades of Gray is atrocious to anyone who's actually into BDSM. It breaks every single rule.

But isn't being an abusive freak romantic when it happens in a book?

Yes, if you skip all the plot to get to the porn, GoT is porn...But the same is true of KS.:P

And 50 Shades is just garbage. Not because it breaks imaginary rules but because it's badly-written fanfiction.

Yeah...
That's how I felt when I opened my heart to the first female. Though, it wasn't because I'm too emotional (near polar opposite, actually). She just didn't wanna date people from Church.

Sadly, I haven't opened my heart to another female after that, as of yet.
AaronIsCrunchy wrote:Yeah, I've been in a relationship for 2 years this coming March. Since September my cosy little school-based relationship turned into a long-distance relationship, and one with what I sometimes feel is not enough communication, but KS has succeeded in bringing out my emotions in ways that I've previously found difficult (although I'm a bit of a romantic, which I will readily admit, I'm also incredibly emotionally reserved. I'm Aspergers' and British, I'm allowed to be xD), and it's made me appreciate that much more the fact that I'm with this girl and she has chosen to stay with me.
I'm jealous.
In terms of having Asperger's and being with someone. I, also, have Asperger's.
Earlier in my comment, I said I opened my heart to a certain female. And I favored her because of her experiences. Her little brother had fairly extreme form of autism (for those that don't know, Asperger's is a mild form of autism), loved the arts, and all that. Now that I look back, I didn't favor her, for herself. Something I should have done.

SpunkySix wrote:This may have been discussed before, but I feel like it's worth asking since it's probably well buried by now. Has anybody played this during a time they actually had a girlfriend? If so, then what the heck is that like? I can't imagine having all these feels and then seeing somebody you're supposed to have more feels for almost every day at the same time. That seems like it would be overload. How'd you manage, if you even did?

Also, poll question to monitor the general population's answer.
You're not supposed to have feels for a girlfriend, or anybody. Feels are for fiction. Emotions are for reality.
Emotions... that's a pretty word. I really do believe i'm a person with Asperger's that very Apathy heavy, but have the wisdom to know what's wrong and right. Which was, most likely, for several reasons. Being bullied. Being rejected. Not being loved. Tbh, I can sympathize with both Hanako and Misha, in terms of their past in the VN (well, minus the homosexuality bit of Misha's).
However, even though my Apathy is on the heavy side of things, I have shown emotion. Outside of rage and being angry (I really don't like that I've left holes in walls...). I have shown joy, love, and happiness.

GoT has sex like every other chapter.
It's porn with plot.

KS is plot with porn (like most VNs)

Right, my bad. I am not very god with dates. (I am not correcting this typo)
Steinherz wrote:Game of Thrones
Yep. She read the books after the series, so she is probably biased.

2 Steinherz: GoT has plot of epic proportions and lacks several retarded fantasy cliches. That alone makes it good.

I'm not sure you know what porn is because "This massive plot has some sex in it!" does not qualify. :P Deep Throat is porn with plot. Very little plot, what's there is flimsy and worthless, and it exists solely to connect one sex scene to the next. If anything, in GoT, sex scenes exist to connect pieces of the plot.

@wazuzu: "I'm not very god at dates" is the best VN tagline ever created.

Also, I personally couldn't possibly get off to GoT, especially since my mother initially got me into it...
