Am I the only one who absolutely adores the title card for Rin's Act 3: Distance? With Hisao as The Thinker and Rin as Venus De Milo. It's beautiful, and I'm not sure why. Your thoughts?

Took me a little while as well. Considering that the unrestored Venus De Milo actually has no arms.

I caught the Hisao one, but IO never actually noticed the Rin pose until it was pointed out.

Hisao's upper head is strangely proportioned.

There's a lot going on with this title card to make it likeable. It actually stands out for a few reasons. The poses are one thing, but it's also the only title card two consist of two independent sketches, rather than one. And if that's not enough, there's also the fact that Hisao and Rin are facing away from each other. Rin seems to be in the act of turning away, suggesting that she's increasing the distance between them. And the facial expresions; Rin looks distant and passive, like her thoughts are a million miles away. Hisao looks dejected and worried.
Pretty much every element here reinforces the separation between these two people. It's quite well done.

Pretty sure that's just an anime thing, though the way his neck is extended probably isn't helping.

In other words, Standard Rin.

Well, yeah, but it's serving a thematic purpose here.
I think it's particularly telling that Mike chose to draw her in the act of turning away from Hisao.

It's because Hisao's head is actually pointing straight as opposed to downward like the actual

I noticed it, right of the bat.
