Jobriq wrote:What if when Hisao decides to exercise, instead of going to the track, he went to Yamaku's swimming pool? He totally should have. Let me list the reasons why:

1. Running sucks. Swimming is great. (I may be biased here)

2. Emi (or some other girl) could be on the swim team (I don't think Yamaku even has one) and wear prosthetic flippers (do those even exist?)

3. Hisao would have to expose his scar when swimming and this would have interesting plot potential. (i.e. some girl asks about it, awkwardness ensues)

4. Instead of heart attack on the track, it would be a heart attack in the pool leading to drowning! (this seems like a bad reason)

5. CRIPPLE GIRLS IN BIKINIS!!!! (you know you want it)
1) Swimming is great. Good reason.

2) It doesn't really have to necessarily be a girl on the swim team, if indeed one exists. It could just be someone who's a hydrophile and would rather swim than other means of exercise.

3) This would open up really good plot potential, actually. If it happened earlier in said storyline, he'd be forced to come to terms with his condition instead of blatantly ignoring it or just forgetting about it.

4) THe manly picnic exists, I don't think we need more death than that. BUt heart problems in the water could place panic into the plot. Especially with the risk of drowning combined with the fact that swimming can wreak havoc on your cardiovascular system.

5) Just... no.

ANd sorry for not splitting the uote.

Don't think Yamaku has a swim team. Wasn't it mentioned somewhere that the pools mostly used for hydro-therapy? This adds the possibilty of a cute therapist who specializes in teaching swimming.

Hmmm, you know I bet Miki is a water lover.

In terms of VNs, Katawa Shoujo is unique in the fact that it only has one "Dead End". Every other Visual Novel (aside from Majikoi) I've played has had at least three or more.

Most likely. <3
As it's, actually, pretty damn easy to swim without hand(s).

Maybe the swim team counts as therapy?

It's a secret swim team. Hydro-therapy is just the official use of the pool but what the staff don't know won't hurt them (unless they have a severe internal defect like Hisao, ha).

Not at my University all the swim team people are damn near insane. If they haven't dyed their hair blond they shave it off and get up at 4:30 to go swim.
I can't really see Miki swimming alot. You use you hands way more than you realize. (As I've found out being bored out my mind as my internet gets reset)
Though pools have much more romantic potential than the track. Teaching Hanako to swim? All of my yes

Well she still has the one good hand, so it might not be hugely difficult for her. And given her personality, I can imagine her, like Emi, getting in the pool more for fun than as a workout. I can see her as kind of a Beach Babe type.

I dunno, Hanako has so few things shes really good at (yeah, singing and chess) that I like the idea that shes already a really good swimmer. Convincing her to teach Hisao or Lilly would be fun.

While, true, you can be taught how to swim with your hands closed into fists. Which causes the water to pass your closed hands, more than be caught by them. So, when you do have your hands open when swimming, you, may, go faster than you would have without the training with your hands open. Which is helpful for those that want to go faster when they're swimming.

It's actually stated in the VN that Lilly can swim. She's just not as fond of it as Akira is.

She just doesn't seem to enjoy it. Understandable I suppose because of her blindness. Or maybe shes just never had a friend to go swim with.

I don't think Lilly's been lacking in the friends department. It's just that she doesn't enjoy swimming...or pretty anything else that requires a great deal of physical activity. (with the exception of one particular type of physical activity)
