Manly Picnic (worst end?)

so on my 3rd playthrough, attempting to go for rin route yet again since my 2nd playthrough ended up on lillys route, i found myself on kenjis route. as sad/funny/odd as it was, the ending is quite shocking and not exactly what i was expecting. i found it kinda sad that kenjis hate for women started because he didnt know anything about sex and confused an orgasm for "women sucking the life out of you" which in the long run, i suppose having a kid can be very much draining on you.
then he goes onward to hisao closer and closer, and at that point my fears started to get realized. and yea, hisao goes floating and everything begins to get smaller and smaller... till his back meets the ground and the screen goes red
so, how many of you also were shocked with this ending? i didnt expect anything of this sort, really. i heard that you die in this game if you make the wrong decisions... but dam, this comes as a shock to me. i know he said that if you want to kill someone, best do it on the rooftop to make it look like an accident, but i never thought that would actually happen. shit...

Most VNs have at least one "Dead End" Bad End.
Katawa Shoujo is no different
Did it shock me? Not extremely. Since I read somewhere that KS didn't have a gay route, so I knew hanging out with Kenji was going to be a bad end. While he was ranting I was like "Why do I get a feeling Hisao is going to bite it here?"

especially VN like corpse party and zero escape. there was one ending in zero escape where
you were looking for everyone, since the facility you are in is too quiet. you check almost everywhere, but the infirmary. running into it, your vision gets all hazy and you drop to your knees, and feel a warm pool of red that you are kneeling in. looking forward you see pretty much everyone in a corner of the room dead. you pick up the same scalpel that everyone died with and you kill yourself.. possibly the most shocking ending.

Same thing happened to me haha. Did the final choice when
you return from town with Lily and Rin get you too?

Yup, although I, like so many others, thought that would lead to Rin.

Seems to be a common mistake. I think it's because you're not talking to Rin specifically.

Although this is my first visual novel, I have been reading interactive fiction (text adventures) since the early 1980s when I played Infocom games on my Atari 800. In the classic text adventures, there are numerous ways to die, and some of them are quite elaborate and humorous. (Of course, the classic death is to walk into a dark place and blunder into the slavering fangs of a lurking grue.) The manly picnic reminds me of some of the better deaths in text adventures - it is a spectacular death that is well written and does not seem like an afterthought. And to top it off, there is some real character development in the manly picnic. Although, perhaps unfortunately, it is the only possible death in the story, it is so entertaining that it makes up for the lack of any others.

Just a question, what was the last question you asked that lead you to Manly Picnic?
:EDIT: I had told you before if you were going on Rin's route there was two ways to die. Sadly, you ended up dying.

thing is i thought i was going on shizunes route since i went to the shanghai with them. it seemed like i was getting too close to her, then i went out to town with lilly and met rin, and then i saw the option to not talk about the problem. i never picked it before so i was curious.
curiousity killed the cat...
by dropping it off the roof

Wouldn't it land on its feet?

Well you were with Shizune and Misha in the first place, so going with them doesn't necessarily mean you're getting close to them. Just go through the story, be sure to ask the neutral questions. Be sure to look for chapters called "Things to Do" and "Creative Pain".

Where is it ever suggested he knows nothing about sex? He could be an idiot savant about sex and it wouldn't change the fact that he's out of his mind.

If you are on Shizune's path you won't even see the scene where you go shopping with Lilly.
