...I think we're done here.

And where does that kiss in her good end have anything to do with sexuality? Affection and sex are not the same things...

Her endings were all pretty good though...Dunno if her route is best...

Even though it is not an H-scene and just a kiss ...

With that kiss Hanako is starting to own her body and her sexuality. In Hanako's H-scene, it's clear that sex is something she is letting Hisao do to her. It's almost a voluntary data rape. With the kiss, this is Hanako's idea and something she wants to enjoy as much as Hisao does.

I thought Hanako's ending was the most emotionally charged of all the endings, even with the minimal sexuality. Her ending evidenced the most personal growth.
+1

I want to say Rin's route is the best written, simply because of how difficult it'd be to write the character. Hanako's route is a close second.

Best written, imo, is Emi. Followed probably by Rin and Hanako.

Also, about the Shizune hate. I personally don't hate her, but it's more of a "fuck the police" thing, you know?

Shizune does not fuck any police officers... .-.

All of the paths are written nicely IMO, but I would choose, I would pick Kenji and Rin's. I like Kenji's because his dialogues are quite fun to read, to the point that the ridiculousness of his path was really nice in a positive way. I also picked Rin's because her story has so much to tell and the connotations, even though it was a bitter path to pick in the first place. It also felt the most honest from the paths in the novel.

To be honest that's probably the first time I've seen the manly picnic route picked as the favourite :o

Definitely Shizune's path. Despite not having the best ending, she was always my favourite girl. The other paths were great, don't get me wrong, but there just hasn't been a connection like that for the other four girls for me.

Rin was too "deep". There were too many emotions being flung around that it was almost impossible to grab one and stick to it, which I don't like. Still, great path.
Lilly was far too formal, I was constantly waiting for her to loosen up around Hisao and stop being so elegant.
Hanako made me want to punch Hisao for being an idiot.
Emi was too stubborn for me, but I did get attached to her, otherwise the plot would fall apart.

Shizune though, her route felt natural for me. Being someone who is detached from their family in a similar way, I could relate to her much better than any character. I've always had an interest in communicating with people through a different language, and the fact that Hisao learned sign for Shizune like that... It just made me smile. Her path is also the most realistic of all of them, in terms of a relationship, in my opinion. Your very first relationship will never be as complex as the ones depicted in the other four routes, so something calm was a nice change of pace. I like the friends dynamic they shared because it felt normal

Why did Hanako's path make you want to punch Hisao?

And Shizune's route was the most common, wouldn't say most realistic...Any one of them could happen in reality. Incidentally, most people whine about it for that very same reason, it's too calm for them.

Emi's route was the most cheering and it was fun.
Shizune's route was a bit too long without any options and a bit boring for me, especially when I had to do something without her.
Rin's route was the most funny. I had to laugh many times when she was talking.
Hanako's route made me think the most.
Lilly's route was the wettest for me. I have cried the most out of all paths at its good ending.

All routes where good, which was best depends on priorities. If I should select one, then my vote is for Lilly's path.

Point One: I actually understood what Rin was trying to say the majority of the route, being that she couldn't explain what she felt. It's just that Aura buried that under all of Hisao's conflicting emotions and that added pseudo-deepness to the plot. I still enjoyed it though :D

Point Two: White knighting. Very badly. Honestly, I would say Hanako is a very easy person to read, the fact that Hisao struggled to understand why she was upset is surprising to me.

Point Three: I'm likely biased due to her being my favourite girl, but honestly you would be much more likely to find a real Shizune than you would a real Emi, or Rin

Really? To be honest, I'm questioning whether or not your reading was correct, because I'd be really impressed if you figured it out before the final scene in her route.
(I just realized that might've sounded condescending... I didn't mean to if that's the case, sorry.)

Literally everyone understood that Rin can't explain things well, but she plainly says that early on so it's not the problem. Her problem is trying to explain despite that, Hisao's (and the player's, depending) problem is trying to get an explanation despite that.

White knighting? You mean that thing that only really takes up the space of one ending in the entire route? Yeah, that makes sense, of course white-knighting would make you annoyed at a route that mostly doesn't involve that... :P
