The only time this gets brought up is by annoying people on the internet trying to make themselves feel superior because they write the date a different way.
Yup, people have to do this because not everyone follows the same system.
This is on my list of things to do if I was the global overlord. Convert everyone to metric, renewable fuel sources so I can rule over my planet as long as possible, and build a space elevator. Then sit back and eat some nachos.

And another guy you pushed to create a forum account, Thanatos...

Great work so far. Really, really great. Looking forward to final Act.

I had guessed that "new thing" you were trying was writing from a different POV, but I was hesitating between Akira and Tetsuo. Seriously, this man needs more credit. He's a good guy who just happened to take bad decisions.

The one really f***ing things up here is Akira. One the one hand she tries to renew her relation with Tetsuo, on the other hand she keeps flirting with a guy who has confessed to her ! And on top of that she is keeping this Scottish job thing to herself until the last time.
Would she have either :
- made it clear to Hisao she isn't interested : we've got Lilly's good ending here, and a settled relation for her with Tetsuo
- broke with Tetsuo : have fun with Hisao and stop rambling !
Instead she's just here waiting for things to explode...

Hisao should seriously think of writing a book
"How to make the worst decisions and eventually get the girl thanks to awesome blind luck in 10 lessons" by Hisao Nakai.
This guy has to much luck.

Sorry for any errors since English is not my native language.

Welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy your stay =)

My interpretation isn't that she's mucking things up intentionally, but she's been with Tetsuo for a long time and it's not as simple for her as just breaking up with him.
Hisao is a confidante for that particular sentiment and she has conflicted feelings about both Hisao and Tetsuo.

As for luck, every protagonist has to have some.

Once again Thanatos, you don't need to apologize for the timing of YOUR story. I have to admit though, it's awesome to know that you care enough about your readers to give us progress updates and even though a lot of us don't like it, apologize when things don't go according to your time table. Your commitment to the story (and us) is awesome and keeps us patient. Thanks again!

Nope. It screws completely any sane sorting and it is impossible to convert from MM-DD-YYYY to DD-MM-YYYY correctly in every case. Anyway YYYY-MM-DD is best of them all - ISO standard, sorts always correctly and everyone knows what it is about and do not have to guess if it is DD-MM or MM-DD.

That's the rationale for this notation? I thought it was something like "We've always done it that way" like usual...
By the way, that's not "smallest to largest" that's "smallest possible maximum value to largest"
The smallest unit in there would be "day."
Anyway, MM/DD/YYYY is like sorting adresses by country first, then by street and housenumber and finally by city^^°

Think Mirage has gotten my opinion on the American systems pinned over these few posts.
It's stupid and should be changed. :)

We were going to change it. In schools, teachers started teaching the metric system. The whole country was going to switch. And then it didn't.

Such a shame.

I learned both Metric and Imperial in school and didn't have any issue with it. And I've used both at work. And no one that I've ever talked to who lives in the US has any issue with it. The only people I've seen who have a problem with it are people who live in other parts of the world. It's like it offends them that the US does it differently. I just think its funny that this metric vs. imperial discussion pops up all time online, but I've never once had it occur in the real world.

I don't hate the imperial system, i just find it troubling complicated and illogical. When half the population of the forums and websites i go to uses that form of measurement. It's hard not to get a bit angry because i can't understand how tall a 6'0 person is.

Sooo...How about this story huh, guys?? I think I learned enough about the metric system and imperialism to say, "Can we talk about the Akira route now? Or give kudos to Thanatos?"

I think you've just put into words what I never quite could concerning how I feel about Akira. This fic being from Hisao's perspective, it's difficult to know exactly what's going on in Akira's head since we're seeing it through two lenses (what she says/how she acts and how Hisao interprets said words/actions). That being said, I can't imagine how her wishy-washiness is going to do anything except come back and bite her in the ass. There's a whole 'nother act to go, yet. I don't think we're clear of the drama yet.

Well if she just went straight for Hisao it would be too easy I guess?

In all seriousness, Akira is a serious business women, not a high school student. And from everything we learn about her it's pretty clear that she wants to be taken seriously by her peers. So I just think that there is a part of her that thinks she will lose some credibility if she starts to go out with a high school student. If I knew someone in high school that was dating someone in their late 20's, I bet I would look at it weird too.

Also your avatar pic is pretty sweet, Forgetmenot.

I feel like the serious businesswoman in Akira would be more inclined to go for what she wanted. Or at least to be able to decide what she wants. It was pretty clear from that chapter from Akira's perspective that she doesn't quite know how she feels yet, which is something I'd expect from a more timid character, like Hanako.

Also, weirder shit happens in relationships in Japan than a simple age gap. But I agree, that's probably the main reason why anything hasn't happened yet.

If she really wanted that, she'd probably move to Scotland without ever looking back. Business culture in Japan is still very much a male culture and discourages females sticking around the workplace long enough to make career advancements.
