Hi guys! Lemme introduce you, this is Promiscuity, a fic I'm workin' on concerning mostly Rin and Emi and the first months of them being placed in adjacent dorms. I'm not the type to be around KS forums much, but I hope this is a little cool! Will start from first chapter, and continue on!

CHAPTER 1
I find myself in the midst of my third year here at Yamaku.
My school life has been pretty good so far. The track team is even more on my ass than usual. I've always been one of the fastest on my team, which earns me praise, and also drives me to do even better. With this year being my third in high school, even more is expected of me. I can't complain. Let them give me all of the pressure they want. I'll beat it. No problem.
Still, with schoolwork on top of my constant training, everything is a little stressful.
Today is another routine trip to see the nurse. I stop in after my training, we exchange a typical greeting, I sit on the table and he examines my prosthetics and my lower legs connecting to them. Normal stuff.
"So," he says to me, wearing his normal grin, "I hear you got your own little patient to take care of now."
"Huh?" I ask with a confused look.
"Your new neighbor in the dorms. Word is, you're the pick to take care of her and show her around."
"Oh! Yeah! That," I respond with some enthusiasm. A counselor already talked to me at length about it. The girl's name is Rin. She's an armless girl, and would need help with her everyday preparations, such as cleaning and shopping. I wondered for a while about the oddity of pairing an armless girl with a legless girl, but the counselor made sure to explain to me that is was mere coincidence, with the empty room next to me being one of the few that are available, and that any choice to help her was completely voluntary.
"So, how do you feel about that? She's been armless since birth, as you probably know. Looks like you'll have your work cut out for you."
"I haven't thought about it too much," I answer with a shrug, "you're right though, I guess that's the sort of thing they have in mind for me to do. They also talked about emotional support or something, apparently she has a hard time fitting in, even after being here all three years."
"Well, yes," Nurse nods in agreement, "I looked over her documents out of curiosity. She's well-adapted to using her feet in place of arms, but will probably still need a good amount of physical help. Plus, yes, the emotional issues. It's said that even the school's own therapists couldn't hope to get through to her."
Nurse looks up from examining my legs and gives me a serious expression, the sort of 'can't be friendly right now' face that I rarely see from him, outside of my own occasional injuries. "It's up to me to look out for the health of all of the students in general. This is a big responsibility, Emi. You can barely juggle your school work and track practice as it is. If it turns out you're not up to it, it's her loss more than yours."
I simply frown. Who the hell does he think I am? "I don't need a lecture. What? You don't think I can handle it?"
His toothy grin returns, as quickly as it left, "oh, not in the least. In fact, I think you're one of the most capable people I know for this. She could use someone strong, friendly, and outgoing like you, seems like. Just making sure you know what you're getting into."
I return his grin and accompany it with a thumbs up. "Of course! I guess if you put someone helpless in front of me, I gotta give 'em a hand. It'll be nice to share more time with someone outside of the track team, anyway."
The Nurse nods, "great. And your prosthetics are looking good today, too. I suppose I'll let you go, now."
I get up and turn to leave the room, looking back and waving to him, "seeya!"
He waves in return, "remember, get 'em, Emi."
"No doubt!" I chirp as the door closes behind me.
I make my way to the dorms at a quick pace. The thought of meeting someone I haven't talked to, or even seen around the campus, excites me.
As I walk down the dorm hall, the first thing I notice is the door of the previously vacant room next to mine. It's open just a crack, and there's been a new lever installed in place of the typical knob on the front. Looks like the movers got everything done during the school hours. I walk to the front of it and knock lightly on it, the door swaying a bit in response, myself leaning to the side to try to peek through it.
"Hey, anyone home?" I ask to whoever may be in there. I lose my patience and enter anyway. Door's open, right?
What I see in front of me is a somwhat slim figure wearing a boy's school uniform, topped with burgundy hair. She's facing away from me, her hips slumped awkwardly against the corner of a nightstand that's been slightly pulled out from its original position. She's making slow, un-rhythmic movements against the nightstand, that is, until a moment after I see it. She pauses and turns her head to see me. Her cheeks are bathed in red. Her mouth is slightly hung open, lingering around as it appears she's breathing heavily.
It's said that you only get one chance at a first impression. Safe to say, this is one I wouldn't forget.
I regain my senses and make a gesture of covering my eyes, my head shaking. "Ohmygosh, I'm sorry! I barged in! Sorrysorrysorry!" I do my best to back out of the room and turn towards the other rooms before uncovering my eyes.
Eager to get away from this awkard situation, I quickly make my way to my own door and begin to open it. Suddenly, I hear the door next to my own creak, and as I look over, the girl is already in front of me, looking at me with a blank face.
"Um..." she mutters before pausing for a moment, "can I help you? Are you the girl they were talking about?"
"I'm sorry I was just- wait, what?" I manage to respond, shocked over how she seems to be brushing off our encounter just a few moments ago. "Um, what you you mean?"
"Helper girl," she says as her eyebrows raise. "The girl who helps me now instead of a nurse. That's you right? Or not?"
I put on a smile, happy to introduce myself, "well, if your name is Rin, then yeah, I'm your helper girl, Emi."
"Yup, that's my name," she says in response, then shakes her head a bit, her hair swaying along with it. "Rin, that is. Not Emi. If I were Emi I'd have to be you. And if I were you I'm not sure how I could introduce myself to... myself."
Well, she seems unusual, that's for sure. I chuckle at her comment.
Rin looks me over for a moment, then says more. "It's obvious why you go to this school. A legless gazelle."
After realizing what she just said out of the blue, my face picks up a scowl. "Huh? What kind of thing is that to say!?"
Rin shakes her head once again. "Oh, you're one of the self-conscious ones. It's impossible to tell, you know." Rin's confusing manner of speech continues to confuse me. Where does she even want the conversation to go? I've even almost forgotten about when I first saw her in her room.
I put a hand on my hip and look her in the eyes. "Sometimes it's just best to not mention it."
Rin simply shrugs. "It's not like I mind being armless. Is it different with legs? It's odd to think about."
I give a sigh on consternation and close my eyes. I guess she's just curious, and not very tactful in speech at all. I open my eyes and put a smile back on. "It's fine Rin. And yeah, I'm pretty sure it's different. Can't be easy for you, though... is it?"
"Not having arms?" she responds as she turns from one side to the other, the tied-off sleeves swinging around. "Impossible to know. Never had 'em."
"Oh..." I look down a bit, a look of concern on my face. Maybe I'm being too rough with her. Our problems are different, but are still problems, even if she's not as aware of it. I briefly wonder what it would be like if I was simply born with no legs. Would I care? Would I still be the same Emi?
I'm broken out of my thoughts by Rin's voice. "Thinking? I like that. I think I'll go think, too. If you don't mind." I look at her again as she turns towards her room, not waiting for parting words.
"Umm, wait!" I call out to her. She turns her face partially towards me again. It reminds me of our initial encounter and makes it a little harder to get my next words out. "I was gonna go take a shower. Do you... wanna join me? I mean, that's what we're supposed to do, right?" I keep my smile on, a blush forming on my cheeks. I don't want her to take this the wrong way.
Rin does nothing more than shrug in response and say a few words before walking back into her room. "I dunno. Sure. Let me get some stuff."
I decide to follow her back into her room, figuring she's referring to clothes. It turns out she is. She motions towards her nightstand with her toe. "Clothes are in there."
As she stands idly by, I walk over to the nightstand. It's the same one she was straddling earlier. It's not even pushed back into its original position yet. As I bend down, and open the top drawer, I pick up an unmistakeable yet unique and strong scent.
Her scent.
Ugh, get your head out of the gutter, Emi! What's it matter, anyway? I shake odd thoughts out of my mind as I proceed to pull out a shirt and pair of pants.
