Eternity Lost: A Poem dedicated to Lilly Satou

I had the idea about this poem a while ago, before playing KS, but at the time it was a bit abstract so I left it to the side. Playing through Lilly's path reminded me of this poem and I got the inspiration needed to finish it, as the sentiments expressed in the poem are very similar to the relationship between Hisao and Lilly, and the heroine of the poem is akin to Lilly as well. Enjoy!
Eternity Lost
To Lilly Satou
Do you remember,
How sunny it was when we got there,
In that tranquil field of soft gleams?
How we sat down determined to talk our hearts out,
Now that we had found each other, to love and to keep?
How calm you were when you said,
That this is what eternity feels like?
Do you remember,
How sudden the rain came?
In that foreign field of thunderous streams.
How the sky grew dark with anguish and
How cold it was when I said that we have to move fast?
Do you remember?
How you just looked at me, all calm,
How peaceful you were when you smiled:
“I am tired, tired. I just want to linger here… for a while.
Just let me stay and I’ll let you go.”
We have to move fast, I said, but you smiled
and looked past me,
not even shivering, determined to stay there, unmoved.
I know now the pretence of it, how fragile you really were,
But I didn’t know it back then, and it was too cold to think
So I just moved on with the flow,
Assured by your smile
And when I looked back, I couldn’t see you anymore
And when I came back, you were gone.
Do you remember?
Well, I hope you do,
Now that we have lost each other,
I hope you remember, wherever you are,
For I have been through all kinds of weather since then
But it never felt like eternity.
