So the other night I had a few drinks and ended up telling a lot of people about how incredible this game is, including my girlfriend. Luckily I don't have judgmental friends as most of them aren't into anime/video games/reading etc., and they just played it off as drunken rambling. My girlfriend however was actually very open to the idea of a visual novel, and she wanted to see what it was all about so I showed her. She lost interest at the lengthy intro, but I'm still spreading the influence when I can. A couple of friends have irked me though, as they immediately dismiss it as porn. Their loss!

I was just curious as to other people's stories about sharing KS with a boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, husband, partner, what have you. Bad reactions? Good reactions? Keeping it secretive?

I have had similar problems with trying to get my brother and best freind to play....they seem to instantly dismiss it.

It's sad, because KS is an amazing game.

You people lack persuasive power.

Since I'm a psychology major, I typed out a 6 page essay in a letter format to annoy/guilt trip my cousins into playing Katawa Shoujo. One is still being stubborn, but she'll give in.

Hahaha, that's awesome! I'd be interested in reading this essay/letter. My degree is in programming, so I guess I just know how to talk to computers.

The level of presentation won't matter if the person isn't willing to accept it... There are not many people worthy enough to even grasp the concept of a VN as emotional as KS.

Its kind of hard to convince anyone to play a visual novel because of the conotations related to those kind of gamers.

Its hard to convince anyone to watch anime sex scenes, much less ones with disabled girls.

The main reason i played KS is that it was on KnowYourMeme
Not to mention once you've played Monmusu Quest and Yume Nikki you pretty much are open to anything...

I introduced KS to some of my close friends. One of them completed it and really enjoyed it, the others immediately dismissed it with disdain. This showed me how shallow and ignorant they really are.

Just saying it's a game with cripple girls is enough for a lot of people's brains to go south.

You just have to know how to sell it.

Calling it a game where you get to sleep with crippled girls is going to give you a different reaction than calling it a romantic character drama set in school for the disabled.

to be honest I usually avoid even mentioning it has crippled girls unless they specifically ask. I just tell them it's a wonderful story that's really made me re-evaluate the kind of person I am. I also mention to them it starts a bit slow but it's SO worth it to stick through the story. I also tell them I nearly cried a few times, and that few stories have the ability to do that to me.

I've shared it with a girl whom I really like, and a few of my close friends. Most of my lesser friends just said I'm a freak into animated cripple porn but all of my close friends and the girl all really liked it.

I only show my friend the video version of "Gimme the Chocolate!". That's as far as they will know about KS.
