So my friend and I are having a controversy over this. I think that she is a strong black woman who don't need no man , but my friend disagrees, saying that Miki is just tan. What do you guys think?

Lol, I'd have to say no. I thinks shes just one of those heavily tanned asians. It would make more sense being a Japanese based VN and all.

Probably not. If you've ever read Detective Conan one of Conan's friends is dark skinned cause he comes from a specific region in Japan. Hokkaido i think? I dont remember too well cause i havent read it in a while

She looks just barely darker than her classmates. And even if it were due to mixed ancestry, a SE-Asian (grand)parent should be way more likely a case than anything African.

Miki is definitely not African.

Tanned != black

Also Hisao describes her as a tanned girl, plus there are characters in other series that have natural tans that lasts for ages (Chika from Ai Yori Aoshi is one of them).

This is such a silly question. She's very obviously not of African descent, and she's very obviously not a part of the African-American culture (since she's freaking Japanese!). Her skin color is what it is - you can clearly see it in game - and really has very little connection with other racial factors. She's not hereditarily, culturally, or superficially black. And the silliest thing is that her "official race" doesn't matter whatsoever in the first place, which makes me feel like you're kind of trolling here.

If what you say is true, the 'sista' population just decreased drastically. Also, I have a blackanese friend who curiously has a very similar skin tone to Miki...I wonder.

Who knows, she's "ambigously brown", go read about it in TV Tropes. (It will ruin your life.) I don't think it really matters very much.
