In their bi-weekly "Sawbuck Gamer" feature, Katawa Shoujo is the leadoff game featured, featuring one of the Rin stills.

Huh, the AV club. I wouldn't be surprised if the Onion did a parody news story of Katawa Shoujo soon.

A.V. Club and the Onion proper are totally separate entities. They mostly associate with each other as an artifact of a time when they were both part of the same student newspaper.

On one hand, exposure like this is great.

On the other hand, this forum should probably brace for impact from the inevitable flood of people who play the game due to the AV club review, but having missed the reference to cheesecake and thus not knowing what to expect...

What is that reference anyways?

"Cheesecake" is a somewhat dated term for pictures of nude or scantily-clad women. Unless I missed something big in the review, it was the only hint that this game is anything other than PG-rated.

The male equivalent of the term is "beefcake," which is rare enough that if you've heard it at all in the past few decades then it was probably while watching South Park.
