Saw this online, and in light of this game, it piqued my interest. Thought I would share...

Emi and Rin might find it interesting too...

I found this very cool. It's amazing how far science has gone :D

I have a feeling that Rin wouldn't be interested though...Rin seems perfectly adept in the condition she is now.

She'd probably still paint with her feet.

Also, a little generous with the breasts, but I'm not complaining.

I agree, But I think she'd welcome the ability to mix her own colours that hands and arms would provide.

The mechanical side of things is still an issue, that is creating something that fully replicates the movement/senses of the human arm. But this (the nerves) is one of the biggest hurdles and it looks like they're about to overcome it.

Nothing new. "Early stages". And all that. It's an academic breakthrough, far from any "production phase" yet.

Plus, Rin's limbs were not amputated. She actually never had them, so there are no nerves for the prosthetics to be attached to. She would need more cyberpunk age technology than that (direct neural link from the brain?).

Having the abilities she has, she's perfectly capable of doing it herself (no way for a painter to work otherwise). What you had in mind, was probably her working on her mural, when help provided by Emi and Hisao was appreciated because of short time she had left, and the scale of the painting.

That is incorrect. As it states on the site...
Since Rin’s arms are tiny stumps due to a severe birth defect and subsequent surgery, she uses her feet and occasionally her mouth to do everything, which includes painting.
Rin is supposedly a "Thalidomide girl" according to the original design sheet. Thalidomide children are normally born with deformations, not with a lack of the limb itself. Given this and the description on the site it is likely her arm was amputated.

I'd imagine that the nerves would still be there in the arms anyways, but I don't know much about biology (hated that course).

Her breasts are augmented as well.

Fair enough. Won't argue with that.
Still, I will stand in my ignorance, on the position that it only improves slightly her chances for fully functional artificial limbs, since we don't know how functional her nervous system was before amputation (usually limbs that could become of any use are not amputated), and how much it was affected by constant unuse.

Playing some CyberPunk 2020 in my time, I admit breasts were widely used in this setting as storage compartments, holding air supply, or hiding weapons.
