Does Rin have Asperger Syndrome?

Just finished up both Emi and Rin's Route and it got me to wondering since it hasn't been mentioned if Rin's complex personality may be a diagnosis of Aspergers, She defiantly has the traits of someone with a strong case of the condition as I've worked with both kids and teens with Aspergers.

Notable traits:
# Brings up rather inappropriate topics. (When Rin asks what Hisao's condition is when they only just meet)
# Lack of social awareness around her (notable when Hisao visits Rin whilst she paints, also in Emi's route when she bursts into Emi's room without knocking whilst Hisao and Emi are naked)
# Has difficulty coping with crowds (Obvious point here)
# See's objects differently than others, (Whenever she talks about clouds)
# Is talented at what she likes to do but struggles to turn that into a career
# Has a learning difficulty. (often has to ask what certain words mean)
# Unaware of social rudeness, (too many examples to list)

What do you think would it be safe to say that she's Aspergers?

As a person with Asperger's myself, it certainly sounds plausible, now that you mention it.

You just listed the symptoms of an average person with a dislike for people.

I don't even have to read your list to say yes a thousand times. My younger brother has autism and I know several guys with asperger's. Even my mother, who is very knowledgable about autism, agrees.

Rin has Asperger's. Hisao probably can't tell, because he probably doesn't know what it is. Plus, if I remember correctly, there's a huge social stigma in Japan against autism, so Rin might not have been diagnosed or her parents might have not made a big deal out of it.

That's one of the reasons asperger's is hard to distinguish.

I have aspergers and to be honest, it would not suprise me in the least to discover that Rin is autistic.
In some aspects, I can actually relate to Rin a lot (not the no arms part, but anyway).
So yeah, I think it's definitely plausable.

How can Rin be autistic if she has no arms?

How does that relate to anything? Autism, and the like, is a mental disorder. Does not compute.

I'm pretty sure autism originates in the arms. Maybe that's why she had them removed?

Well... I'm not a psychiatrist, but from the experience I have with Asperger Syndrome (one of my friends in high school had it), I would say: yes, Rin has it.
