Thought this board could use a thread for KS wallpapers, it seems there hasn't really been on (please don't murder me if I'm wrong). Either ones you've found, or made - just don't forget to credit/link to the original creators.

As one who used to be into desktop customization (Rainmeter, Samurize, etc.), while the Downloads page over on the main KS page offers a few really nice wallpapers (the "SD Girls" one in particular was really neat), the styles are cool but the color schemes just don't really work well with Windows 7 and a fully-transparent taskbar.

And thus, I set out to remedy the situation - I've taken a few of the better Wallpapers I could find from the downloads page/Shimmie/Forums and rearranged some aspects to make them more suitable/minimalistic. I'm a big fan of sleek, simple style and soft colors, and I think that's reflected here.

Oh, one last thing: because of the way that some of these are stretched, I recommend using John's Background Switcher (http://johnsadventures.com/software/backgroundswitcher/). Not only can you swap these wallpapers out on a timely basis without any effort, but it makes sure they're all properly centered/fitted to your particular desktop.

Mind you, none of this stuff is entirely original - I'm sort of "remixing" other wallpapers. Now, prepare your eyes for their glory:

Based upon the "SD Girls" wallpaper found on the Downloads page. The girls are undeniably cute and I thought the bar idea was really cool. Problem was, it was hung too low, so it messed with my Fences (great little program, check it out if you haven't heard of it). I cannot allow such things to happen. And so I made these.

The next set was inspired by this 'paper on the Shimmie: http://shimmie.katawa-shoujo.com/image/1613.png. I wanted to make one for each of the 5 girls represented in the picture, and they looked good in GIMP but on the desktop the colors were absolute murder on the eyeballs. That needed some fixing, and I came up with these:











I'm thinking about making one for Misha, I'm just debating what would really constitute the proper "centerpiece" here.

And finally, a re-arrangement of coldacid's W7/Vista theme wallpapers. At first all I had done was removed the logos, but I just didn't like the color scheme very much. Don't know what it was, but I just thought it would be much cooler to see a sort of plain metallic-looking background rather than the one it currently had. I've only done Shizune/Misha at the moment, but I'll update it with the Lilly/Hanako and Emi/Rin 'papers when I get to them (which should be rather soon):

Ack, made a stupid mistake on the Lilly wallpaper that I didn't realize until now.

Do you see it? DO YOU SEE IT?

The space between the goddamn handle on the teacup and the teacup itself is the original color. FML.

Will fix soon, assuming the world doesn't implode or something from the sheer FAIL.

Incidentally, I also just realized that some of these make great backgrounds for Android phones, as well. Will try and post a screenshot later.

Also thinking about taking some of the more artistic shots from the game (like the ones where Lilly is feeling Hisao's face, or Emi is running or something) and making wallpapers out of them. Will post when I have a more concrete idea of what that looks like.

You know, I don't know why anyone would ever want to download this, all things considered. But I felt it needed to be made anyways.

Also, I think I'm done working with something as simple as gradients. Cool effect and all, very easy to use, but you can only stick them on so many pieces of fan-art before things start feeling contrived.

What scene or path is that from? I can't remember seeing Misha crying.

I think the Misha one is original art. She doesn't cry until she gets a haircut, much afterwards.
