Hello, This is Nightydreams.

I have followed Katawa Shoujo for a very long time, almost since it's conception.

For years I have simply lurked and watched, anonymously posted on shimmies etc.

But today I have made an account, simply to say this one thing.

Katawa Shoujo, is far more, than I could have imagined or hoped for.

There is such subtle beauty in it. From my first playthrough of Lilly's Path I was overwhelmed by the feelings that came to me through simple images and words. Never in my life have I been more affected by something so simple. I had once assumed the A Visual Novel like Narcissu was possibly the epitomy of the art that is visual novel and story telling in general.

Katawa Shoujo has forced me to take that back.

Perhaps it is the setting, or the premise, the characters or the time taken in it's development. The words didn't feel like words, they felt like emotions, perfectly placed, timed with effortless percision to touch my heart. The speech, the characters personalities and way of life felt so real, as if the entire thing was a snippet from some school for special needs out in the japanese countryside.

I feel I must now compliment... no, Applaud the music used. It was at times, subtle and wistful, at others prominent and in-your-face but it was never out of place or uncalled for. Which is more than I can say for some other examples of visual mediums.

I guess... What I'm trying to say, underneath all this rambling (I am fresh out of a path) is that I loved Katawa Shoujo. And I will remember it always as something that has transcended my view of what a visual novel can be. It's amazing evolution from a simple excuse for cripple porn to a galge to... Something more.

I think i've rambled on enough but, I'll just say one more thing.

Thank you, Developers, publishers, hangers-on, Forum Trolls, Lurkers, Shimmie fanatics and Oekaki panelists.

Thank you for creating something that has touched my heart so profoundly in a time when so little does.

I believe this is how everyone feels while playing this game. ^_^

very well put. this is quite a beautiful game. I personally am wholly entranced by the pure emotion evoking qualities this game has.. I'm sure most the people who play it are too...

I have just realised That I have neglected to mention anything about the sex in the game which is something I must talk about.

I originally planned to ommit all adult content in Katawa Shoujo on my playthroughs but decided to atleast experience to original feel to the game once.

I was amazed by what I found.

The adult content in the game is stunning and an integral part of the experiance. It isn't just sex for the sake of having cripple porn (atleast to me). When I read through those scenes I felt that If I had skipped those I would have had vast chunks of character simply gone.

Katawa Shoujo is now my one and only example of something to you can point to and say that the love and adult content in there is Beautiful instead of hot and arousing.

When I played Lilly's path and I saw those scenes I thought to myself

"This isn't sex, This is love"

And I thought that it was the best thing ever.

Katawa Shoujo, is the only game, hell the only visual medium or textual medium I know that makes sex something amazing and touching.

Agreed. It has an emotional overtone that other games and many novels are devoid of. That is one of the reasons I too, didn't turn the ero scenes off.. It isn't done in a vulgar manner, but in a loving way.. So its a non-issue for me, but I do have to say i was very happily surprised how it was handled..

Pretty much going through the 3rd route, almost nearing Rin's supposed "sex scenes". And honestly I could care less about those scenes.

I do believe this game changes people's view on disabled people, and that they can do things you wouldn't think they could normally.

Now, all that's left is to find a blond, blue eyed blind girl..

So untill I do, I'll get back to you on wether I'd regret it or not.

Agree. Katawa Shoujo is too good to adequately put into words, for they would likely be 30 pages long in total and just insane emotional rambling

It's also pretty odd to explain this game in a short way.

Yeah like where Rin blurts out so much that the dialog box goes from being a small rectangle into a huge square that fills the entire screen (and she wasn't even done yet!)
