Manga About the Disabled

After replaying KS and re-reading Slam Dunk I became interested in finding mangas about disabled sports. And trust Takehiko Inoue to make a manga about anything basketball-related, he indeed has a manga out called Real about wheelchair basketball which is absolutely fantastic. It's everything I loved about Slam Dunk and more. Anyways, I figured I'd recommend it here as well as ask for recommendations for other manga or anime where disability is one of the focuses. Gotta say, if the full KS release is anywhere near as good as reading Real, manly tears will be shed.

Also if it weren't for the fact that most Japanese high schools have a one-club only policy, I could totally imagine Emi doing wheelchair basketball one season and track team another. Whether she's on prosthesis or wheels, girl would be a big ball of energy.

I don't think she'd take to a wheelchair. They're harder to move and maneuver than her prosthetics, after all.

In terms of disabled manga, I cannot recommend "With the Light" highly enough. The co-protagonists are mother and son, and starts on the day of his birth. Unfortunately, the son is not like other babies, and he is diagnosed with autism. Though Mom is in denial at first, she comes to terms with it, and she and her husband strive to make sure he has a full and happy life. There are sad and frustrating moments in the tale, but it is so sweet and heartwarming to read that my main complaint is that it's not longer.

Hotman is one of the most well written series I've had the pleasure of stumbling across though the translation was never finished (bout 80% complete). One of the main characters is a girl with a debilitating skin condition.

Fullmetal Alchemist would qualify.

Not sure if it counts as it is more of a mental disorder focused around the body but the MC of After School Nightmare very plainly has gender identity disorder.

Midori no Hibi is a fantastical take on the concept (guy loses hand...because hand becomes girl). Shippers beware.

It isn't manga exactly but the webcomic Spinnerette has a chick with ALS.

Loveless has a pair of chicks with an inability to feel pain.

Until Death Do Us Part is about a blind dude and a psychic loli (standard "they fight crime" ensues).

Dororo and it's various adaptations (the game and film series are both a bit...don't fault good writing for bad presentation is all I have to say). And for the record you don't get more disabled than Hyakkimaru.

Anyone got anything else?
