Question for the Devs regarding Donations

Hey Everyone,
First time poster, long time waiter for this game.
Now just as a precursor, I have read the FAQ and searched the forums regarding donations and understand that the Devs would rather we donate to a charity. Well, that's the reason for making this thread, I was thinking of doing just that in the form of a "pay what you feel the game is worth" kind of deal. Some bands and some Indie Devs have taken this approach and I felt it could apply here as well.
For the Devs, is there a charity relating to the game that you could recommend? I wouldn't know the more reputable organizations out there as there seems to be quite a lot of them on the internet. I wouldn't know the suitable major US organizations either as I live in Australia and am quite ignorant to the rest of the world.
To the forum, would anyone take up the offer as a thank you for the Devs slugging it through until the end?
No matter which way this thread turns, I just want to say thank you Devs for the time you have put into this and I'm looking forward to the release of the game.

We don't have a favourite charity. One with high efficiency ratio would be the best I suppose.

Well, yeah. ''I'm donating because of cripple porn'' doesn't sound so good, does it?

...seriously tempted to do that now, to see what sort of reaction I get...

I would say something that would help anyone that's been involved in the last 6 months of worldwide disasters.
There's a few to choose from...
Children's Hospitals are good, but I've been tainted by some frivilous spending on behalf of Children's Hospital charities. With all of the varied disasters in the last 6 or so months it's hard to remember them all, let alone open your purse for all of them.

I noticed one thing here. Most people here talk about supporting charity with money. Also charity is not only helping people with disabilities, sickens or that suffered from disasters.( of course these people need help to) There is many ways how you can "donate" in many different ways. While donating money is easiest way i recomend to try other methods.
For example. I donate blood and/or blood plasma every 3-4 months(I would do this more often but I'm afraid of needles) since I was 19.

Yeah donating your precious bodily fluids is an excellent way to help healthcare, especially if you happen to have a blood type that's on high demand.

not all of us are able to donate blood. ah well, my Will (yes i have one, and my doctor has a copy) states that all usable body parts are to be transplanted etc, and the rest of my body to medical research. hopefully that wont happen anytime soon but... well. if my Kidney transplant fails, thats it, so a Will made sense.

Also i forgot to mention one more method that simple and for free.
I mean use if special web sites that have sponsors who will make donation on every clink of the button.
personaly i use two:
http://www.thehungersite.com
http://www.pajacyk.pl/index.php
I can bet that you can find dozens of similar sites.
Any have link to these?

Sadly, if you lived in Europe in a whole range of dates, your blood is ineligible due to problems with mad cow disease.

I think that doesn't apply to the whole of Europe. But only to great Britain.

Thanks for everyone who have posted their suggestions thus far.
Also the thought of donating blood seems like an interesting idea too.
Cheers

There is also always the option to volunteer for a charitable organization or a particular event, although from my experience the former is more likely to be found in more urban areas. And while it is not generally as efficient as donating money directly (because a relatively small amount can have a remarkable impact on the living conditions of those who need it for what we might consider mundane basic needs), I would consider donating some of your free time to helping others as another form of valid contribution for the optimization of the existence of somebody else.
