or "How to spend ~$15 and ~150 hours of your life"
pattern size is 15"x9" ~29000 stitches, 30 floss colors. It took 2 months to complete.
After my stroke a few years ago I started doing cross-stitch as therapy to help regain my motor control and help my, now horrible, memory. I cannot draw but I wanted to do some sort of KS fan project, so I decided on this. I used PC-Stitch to convert the wallpaper images from the Shimmie into cross-stitch patterns, redrew parts and altered colors to make the design more apparent with the lower resolution. This took almost a week before I was satisfied (still not perfect).
It's not easy to see, but everyone's hair has at least 3 colors. This is my biggest disappointment...the colors looked separate enough when I bought the floss but once stitched they blend together too much and you cannot tell. The medium and dark greens of the skirts are also just a little too close together. Along a similar line, I made Hanako's hair just a little too bright purple. If I were to do this again I'd try to fix the colors. It looks pretty good hanging on the wall as-is though.
