I'm amazed there hasn't been a thread about this already (at least that I could find - and if there is, feel free to lock the fuck out of this), considering the characters even have canon headphones and everything. What types of music do you suppose they'd listen to? If any of the writers want to weigh in here, that would be fantastic. Beyond that, how about some wild mass guessing? Note that most of the following completely ignores the fact that the characters are from Japan.
Lilly: Probably a lot of classical and folk, maybe some jazz, anything with rich harmonies and textures. Also appreciates a good singing voice more than most. Favorite artists: Frederic Chopin, Joni Mitchell, Art Tatum, The Sundays.
Rin: Dub, krautrock, psychedelic rock, shoegaze, artsy abstract stuff. Music you can lose your head in, plus a lot of seemingly-random things that you probably wouldn't expect, like Qawwali and throat singing and shit. Favorite artists: Stereolab, Tom Waits, Can, My Bloody Valentine.
Hanako: Genre doesn't matter as long as it sounds good, although she's drawn to melancholy and dreamy music especially. Favorite artists: Portishead, Sigur Ros, Cocteau Twins, Yo La Tengo.
Yuuko: She's the "indie" one, and very discriminating about her musical tastes. Has a soft spot for music from the '60s. Favorite artists: The Beatles (Rubber Soul on, of course), The Smiths, The Kinks, Spoon.
The only way for Shizune to perceive music is by feeling the vibrations~. So I guess she would like her music loud and with lots of bass. But not techno, because the bass is too regular and repetitive.
I'm sure she would like those traditional Japanese taiko drums. Some of them are fucking huge, so I guess you can feel the vibrations with your entire body. And the performances are interesting to look at.

Mutou: Blues and jazz. the Beetles too.
Nomiya: classical music, jazz, 80s, maybe also some 50'
Hisao: listens to whatever I (the player) like. And I'm considered to have the most strange music taste in at least a thirty kilometer radius.
Kenji's favorite song would be: Whiskey in the Jar

I can definitely see Lilly into classical and orchestral music, something with a lot of instruments. And I can see Rin listening to abstract music and Misha listening to J-Pop, maybe Emi too. Kenji would definitely be a heavy metal fan and something strange and random on the side. "Yeah man, check this shit out, it touches your soul like no woman ever can."
Hanako would probably listen to calming music, but I can see her have an exotic and surprising taste of music that she's really embarrassed about. Also, I haven't heard of over half of the artists you had up there.

I wonder what Shizune would like to listen to if she had her hearing. Solely based on her personaility.

Updated with Youtube links! Because I clearly have nothing better to do for several hours than hunt down music videos for a messageboard post. >_>

Every single character likes jazz.
This is my dream, and you can't take it away from me.

Weed helps.

Ah, but then what genre of jazz would they like? All I know is that Rin would dig Sun Ra.

What about breakbeat, then?
Also, I'm not convinced that a deaf person would be any more inclined to like or dislike "techno" (i.e. trance + house) than any normal person would, since repetitive/regular bass is just as likely to be a reason for a normal person to dislike trance and house as well.
Case in point. I think for this song, the bassline is repetitive but catchy, and the way the low synths between the kick fade in and out quickly is intriguing. It's entirely plausible for a deaf person to like how the kick-synth "feels," even if it's done over and over for 8 minutes.

Clearly, dubstep is the answer.
Also Emi being a punk rawker is almost canon. Ask Hive.

Quite right. I still think Shizune would dislike it though, just from her personality. I'd like to think she'd be really into doom/drone metal like Sunn 0))), although that's probably too hilariously awesome to even be possible.

Emi is a punk rawker, unless she's listening to Tom Waits.
