Yep, on my GPU client I see Work Units (WU) that range in size from 8 million to 20 million steps. The SMP client for newer multi core CPUs also produces quite well if you can get it to run stable. It is a Beta client afterall. I had that running for a while but it required too much attention to keep it up and running for my tastes; so I decided to run the x86 client for my motherboard CPU, just for stability. WUs for the x86 client tend to be smaller running from 500K to 5 million steps. The average I see would be 1.5 to 2 million step WUs.

2xGPU clients (GTX 465/GTS 250); 2xCPU clients

Dear god... and I was scared about the Quakecon team, and these up and comers Calguns... but this, this thing is a true beast. It folded 328,614 points yesterday.
Well, for what it is worth I don't think this is actually the Roadrunner in Los Alamos, New Mexico that we are working against. Possibly someone appropriated the name for themselves? F@H info on Team 171808 only shows 20 CPUs. This is more on line with a server rack setup than a supercomputer owned by a Federal agency. (Use of assets by the Feds must be accounted for by pretty strict accounting standards and when this machine is not doing government work all its processing time has to be accounted for. Can't have some govenment flunky linning his pockets by selling time under the table on a honking big supercomputer.) Roadrunner is a hybrid system using AMD Opterons and IBM Cell processors. All software has to be written specificly for the hybrid architecture. There is no F@H client for this architcture and I don't know if they would allow ANYONE to submit results done with code they don't control. If someone had custom written the code and gotten approval from F@H to use it and were running in spare cycles of the Roadrunner supercomputer I'd expect to see numbers with wild fluctuations as other programs ran and mainainence was done, etcetera. Since they have only shown up in tracking for a little while I expect it will require more time to tell. Last but not least if they are the Feds at Los Alamos, New Mexico why name their team "Folding_Texas"?

All that said, yep they will pass us eventualy if they maintain their current pace. After all the teams we dusted in passing I can't summon much fear of being threatened by two teams. I don't like it, but as its working for good results I can't complain too much if someone is working better than I am.
I was aware of the hardware specs of the roadrunner before they got it up and finished, and the Cell Processors used are the same as in a PS3 , just with more Gflops and the 8th SPE isn't disabled so It wouldn't difficult to use that client if someone just spent a few minutes of work.

However I was thinking that The roadrunner was in a college campus like some other supercomputers, and I had also forgotten that it was in New Mexico rather than Texas - When I read the name of one of those states, my brain remembers it as being "somewhere in that area", so if a Roadrunner in "that area" appears, it just seemed a bit to close to call impossible.

I DID also list another possibility didn't I? Someone w/ too much hardware/money on their hands. If it's not a supercomputer, it's probably a small army of GTX 295's.

All that being said, It's kind of nice to be one of the only teams that works... like a team!

MOD EDIT: Sorry to double post but: 10,000 WU's!!! WOO-HOO

Fie, found two of my work folders running without F@H. I didn't set F@H to activate on startup, and for some reason those two computers were restarted (and they NEVER get shut down). Ugh, I might have lost up to a month's worth of folding on 2 PCs. One had 1.8GHZ the other 2.4GHZ....not the best for folding, but a MONTH'S worth of work :

Yep, I just wanted to let folks know why I thought we were not up against a Fed supercomputer. Lord, if they let lose a monster like Roadrunner on F@H... e-peens around whe world would shrivel.

(Does Viagra work on shriveled e-peens?)

Ugh! I know that feeling. I stress over 4-8 of lost time. :(

So, finally decided to actually give this a shot, running it on my 2 laptops (2.53GHz core 2 duo & 1.8GHz core 2 duo), so yea, makes ya feel a little tingly inside knowing it's helping somewhat. :D

Not sure if I'm doing the best I can right now, But I'm running the gpu client with my 4890, my ps3, and I have one instance of the normal client running[phenom II x4 940 3.00GHz]. I should really OC my cpu.

Please don't... you're already going to overtake me with that setup. Have mercy!

Ahoy-hoy! New guy here supporting the cause.

I'm currently using both of my 4890s to crunch the numbers, but smp/cpu client seems to run slow on my i7. Any tips to make it faster is appreciated, but just glad to be here.

Also, Rin is love.

CPU client will usually run slower than the GPU, as it handles different types of WU which require different processing. However, workstep for workstep, my anecdotal evidence suggest that CPU WU are worth more points than GPU ones....just that GPU WU have more step in 'em.
