Dunno if this is the right forum for it or not ...

by On Physical Disabilities ...
I was wondering ... not to get on a personal level, BUT, I take some medications that weakens my skin and nerves as a side affect. Then I played this game, and if a heart condition like Hisao's can get him into a school full of physically disabled individuals ...

What I'm asking is if there's an actual disability in which an individual feels double the pain from something as decent as a playful punch or a firm pat on the back. If so, would it then be considered applicable to take a visit to this school?

You do know that real schools for the disabled aren't full of sexy girls that all love you, right? ;)

I don't think your condition would qualify you for one, anyway. It'd have to be something that required (a) the lessons to be taught significantly differently from in a "normal" school and/or (b) specialist staff - e.g. ones that know Braille or sign language) and/or (c) to be near to medical staff at all times because your condition is life threatening.

Still, it's worth a try if you think you might meet a real life katawa shoujo.

That is not what I said at all, sir. I'm asking if there is a real-life "disease" or "disability" pertaining COMPLETELY to said side effect, MEDICATION NOT--NOT--INCLUDED.

Really though, it's just for the sake of if I'm right or not in my head. If it makes you happy, fanfiction is closest to what I'm dealing with here.

I remember watching a documentary some time back about a little boy who had super-sensitive skin. He'd get welts just from doing stuff normal little kids do every day, and his skin would peel incessantly. So yeah, I think there's a condition like what you described, but I'll be darned if I can remember the name of it.

Google usually helps. I'm honestly too lazy, but if you can't look it up now, I definitely will later.

We do have a whole disability thread going somewhere. Anyway, to address your question: I don't know if there are any diseases that cause permanent hypersensitivity to pain, though I know there are some conditions that result in insensitivity to pain (which carries with it a whole different set of issues).

I think there was a House episode...

Hrm. I guess what I'm getting at that there should be some sort of rival for Hisao. The guy would have this disorder, but not as bad as blowing on his skin to burn him up. He claims Hisao's out for the chicks, but of course, he hasn't a clue what the meathead's talking about. The rival is also part of the track team that barely shows up with Emi.

... Yeah, yeah, I know, new ideas are as good as trying to say your half-assed cooking is the best in the world, but has that stopped fanfiction?

... Wait a minute, wouldn't friction from the running make him burn up anyway?
