According to an article on Anime news network
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interes ... ion/.87367
They are releasing a physical copy at one of their upcoming conventions. Not only is that unfair to the rest of the world, but having to pay for something that's supposedly free? Unacceptable.
Where is our physical copy? Why did Japan get one and not the US or EU? A bunch of whys right now. Sure, we got the game 3 years prior, but in that time we couldve seen a physical release outside of just Japan. Thoughts? Comments? Complaints? Leave them here, I want to know what everyone thinks about this.

Well, "physical copy" is probably stretching it a bit.
My guess is that the Japanese translation team has burned a few DVDs, printed out some covers and are giving them away for the cost of production - if that.
I think they already did that with the English version at a convention a few years back.

They did.
Honestly, it's a promotional gimmick to get the word spread about the Japanese release.

Let me enjoy KS once more in my native language
I'll be attending this summer's convention if I manage to save enough.

Guess you should have bought one in France when they put that one out. Of course, ANN does not report on that so, as they say, c'est la vie.

And now I have the mental picture of someone traveling all over the world, trying to accumulate as many KS discs as possible...

I think it's unfair not just for us to get only free digital versions, but it's a little unfair for them to get physical copies and paying for that. Why not only digital copies, like us? And doesn't this attitude comes to a conflict with "Creative Commons"?

unfair to the rest of the world
You have to realize the hardcopies are not a service we do for the audience, they are for promoting KS. Our translation teams want to promote their work. We don't think KS needs any promoting in US or Europe.
pay for something that's supposedly free
The physical copies are sold for printing costs. The game is still free. It's right there, on the website. What they're paying for is the box and the disc. There's no obligation to buy a hardcopy to read KS.
Creative Commons
We can break our own license however we want, whenever we want.
My guess is that the Japanese translation team has burned a few DVDs
They are professionally pressed/printed.
Basically, the fundamental answer to the questions about why we do stuff like this almost exclusively in Japan is that the members of 4LS who live elsewhere aren't awfully interested in dealing with the hassle that comes with peddling merchandise. Our Japanese members seem to enjoy it.

They have to to advertise too.
Competition in comiket is intense--especially due to some of the more well-known doujin circles.
Not to mention the title can seem to be pretty...offensive to a degree.
