Simple. With animation, you can eliminate all imperfections, (Or create ideal imperfections) and find things that appeal to you easily. You can also do A LOT more with animation, so fantasies can come to life for you.

A depressingly large number of women consider their husband watching porn to be 'cheating'. In many cases, these will often be women who for whatever reason have a low sex drive. I've even heard of one case where the woman had a low drive (sex maybe once a month) and didn't just forbid porn, she forbid him from pleasuring himself, full stop, end of story.

Absolutely. While in some situations you can separate emotions from sex, if it's with the woman he loves then a guy gets a lot of feelings of love and acceptance by having sex with his SO. Masturbating because she keeps turning you down is consequently a huge rejection on several levels.

Second "they" referred to the girlfriends. I thought that would be clear from context but obviously not.

You said it was mostly women with a low sex drive who were opposed to their boyfriends watching porn. My comment meant to say that this was obvious as the boyfriends of women with high sex drives wouldn't watch porn in the first place.
