Dead Space is just monsters jumping out at you, I'd hesitate to call 'startle horror' the epitome of terror.

The thing that makes Dead Space great for me is its sense of fear in the sense that you dont have much ammo or supplies. Not really scary as it is stressful and gives you anxiety before entering rooms.
