Not quite.
Fate/Stay Night: ~800,000 words
Clannad: ~600,000 words
KS: ~600,000 words
Fate is NVL though, so 'feels' slightly shorter than it actually is. Clannad is the best comparison to KS due to also being ADV.

....
Pardon my ignorance, but what does NVL and ADV stand for?

They're manglings of visual NoVeL and ADVenture game.
NVL style games have text superimposed on the sprites, and usually have more narration.
ADV games have a textbox below, and generally are more focused on character dialogue.

Thanks for that; I couldn't remember exactly but I knew if I misquoted something you'd ride to my rescue on your white horse of VN statistics....

Just a suggestion for the devs, taken from a roadmap of an opensource game:
1.0 - Final Release
* Polish. Editing everything for grammar and spelling (content) and readability (code). Final graphic, FX, and music work. Ideally, there should be no new features in v1.0. If there are, v1.0a will be released and thoroughly tested before we announce the v1.0 release.
The roadmap after v1.0 will involve champagne.
As for me:
1.) download it
2.) wait until weekend
3.) play it "naturally"
4.) play it to end up with the girl I like the most
5.) play it to end up with Rin just to read as much of her dialogue as possible
6 and above.) play to unlock other endings

1.) Download it shrewdly and yell at computer until it finishes.
2.) Play about half of it
3.) Squeal like a little schoolgirl.
4.) Play the rest of it.
5.) Rave wildly on the forums at how awesome the makers are and that they should be proud of themselves for releasing something so AWESOME.
6.) Get 100% completion.
7.) Forget the game exists for about year, then come back to playing it again.
Repeat Steps 5-7 indefinitely, being sure to perform Step 3 at random times during play.

1. Play game, go for Rin, Shizune, then Hanako (in that order)
2. Look on the forums to get 100%
3. Fap to everyone finally
4. Play game every now and then when I'm bored (which is going to be alot) and just because of how awesome it will be
5. ?????????
6. Profit!

Ok i got to ask; is there a text document that comes with the game, telling the player how many words their are? Or did some one(s) sit down and count every word themselves?

If someone had to sit and count all the words in KS they'd probably tear their own eyes out. I think they got something that can count the words for them, like those things in word processors.

@Suriko
Thanks.
As for word counting, don't translators put all text in a textfile? If that's the case, it's pretty easy to count the words as G3n has said. As for KS writers, I think they write in word processors too, so it's not much of a stretch that they count how many words their files have.... and I now notice I just pointed the absolute obvious...

Nice feature.
I guess those are not final numbers yet (though probably very near), are they?

Actually I'm pretty sure they already got all the story lines typed out and put together, so those numbers are probably final. All they need to do now is just get art to match the words. At least thats what I assume is going on.

Oh, damn! You admitted it in the forum. Brace for the storm of "suggestions".
I'll just PM my fetis... ahhh, I mean, my fantas.... errrr, my "story ideas" for Emi to TheHiveMind.
[To be absolutely clear I have no intention to PM any of the path writers and pester them. And, I will laugh huge, mocking, horse laughs at any idiot that gets banned for over the top, fuck-tard behavior. Not that my derision of idiots ever seems to disuade them from behaving like that, but I really do enjoy mocking them.]
