The entirety of the last scene on Rin's worst ending. Actually, almost everything Rin said. Seriously, I'd like to meet Aura and give him the biggest brohug.

I find Hisao's dark sarcasm to be quite amusing Just been going through Rin's route again (it's been ages since I've gone through any route, it's always nice to return to it and think 'THAT'S why I like this so much!' AGH, digression) and where Hisao goes 'I'll be more likely than not dead before turning thirty, while she can't eat orange without help. I can't decide which one of us is worse off' my immediate reaction was laughter, and then thinking about how low Hisao must feel for that to be a thought process.

The noise that happens right after that freaks me out. That whole part had a very unsettling effect, appropriately enough.

I think the writing for Rin's arc is probably the most beautiful writing in the whole game.

"She pauses for a while to ponder my question…"

"…and shrugs her shoulders."

"It almost makes me laugh."

"The carefree easiness of her gesture is a lovely thing, a sign of how Rin can, truly and really, without any restraints whatsoever, shed the entire weight of the world from her shoulders, should she will so."

"And I think I might love her for that."

That makes perfect sense though. Unlike Kenji's bullshit, which is sadly believed by at least a few handfuls of actual humans.

Eh, I thought her arc was a bit painful to get through from a reader's standpoint.

But, if you look at it from an aesthetical perspective, then hell yes, Rin's arc as a whole contains some of the best writing I've seen so far in a visual novel. It's clever, it's thoughtful and the way it flows is fantastic, considering the fact that she's a character who can't really express herself the way she wants to. It's awkward yet endearing at the same time.

I was impressed with Aura's writing and I hope I'll have the pleasure to read something else written by him in the (near) future.

Agreed. She needs to go somewhere familiar, so she doesn't get lost in the unfamiliar. I don't see that as a particularly odd concept.
