It's entirely possible that any one of us is actually a feminist spy.
Even me.
Even me.
Being a feminist is not necessarily related to gender, agenda, or gendarmerie...SpunkySix wrote:It's entirely possible that any one of us is actually a feminist spy.

Being a feminist is, in a simple form, just supporting the idea of equal rights, opportunities and power-distribution for women. Guess that makes me a feministbrythain wrote:Being a feminist is not necessarily related to gender, agenda, or gendarmerie...SpunkySix wrote:It's entirely possible that any one of us is actually a feminist spy.

I see the 'gal' in Egalitarian. You must be one of those who thinks all the gals are the same.Munchenhausen wrote:Although I know Feminism was a once noble cause, I feel the whole ideology is being weighed down and tainted by the Radical branches and Tumblr.
That's why, if I had to choose, I'd label myself as an Egalitarian.
I don't give a fuck who you are, you're a people too.
Unless you act like a knob, in which case you are demoted to "Knob".
It's a lot simpler for me
The way I see it, crazy tumblr 'feminism' discredits the name and ideology no more than the 'union of soviet socialist republics' discredits actual socialism. Though I suppose that analogy depends on what you think about socialism.Munchenhausen wrote:Although I know Feminism was a once noble cause, I feel the whole ideology is being weighed down and tainted by the Radical branches and Tumblr.

Agreed with this so much. Whining about how everything is unfair and how all men are out to get women is extremely obnoxious, and it's sexist in itself. Just... want equality, try to live it and stop ranting about how men are making fat girls feel bad and not the other way around or something. There's a way to do things, and strawmen-based Facebook posts aren't it.Munchenhausen wrote:Although I know Feminism was a once noble cause, I feel the whole ideology is being weighed down and tainted by the Radical branches and Tumblr.

I'd say it was tainted from the very instant some genius had the bright idea of labeling an alleged equality movement with a title so stupidly one-sided and divisive as to focus entirely on just one particular group of people.Munchenhausen wrote:Although I know Feminism was a once noble cause, I feel the whole ideology is being weighed down and tainted by the Radical branches and Tumblr.

What do you expect from the 19th century? The men didn't need anyone to fight for their rights, and the women were no less racist or homophobic than anyone else, so that's the name you're going to get. Nowadays there is no reason to change the name, because the name of something has no effect on what the thing actually is, and because it was called feminism when it got women the right to vote and generally be seen as actual people, so why change it now? Feminism vs Egalitarianism is just a stupid semantic issue, especially when being a feminist does not magically stop you from also supporting various other group's rights.Potato wrote:I'd say it was tainted from the very instant some genius had the bright idea of labeling an alleged equality movement with a title so stupidly one-sided and divisive as to focus entirely on just one particular group of people.Munchenhausen wrote:Although I know Feminism was a once noble cause, I feel the whole ideology is being weighed down and tainted by the Radical branches and Tumblr.

Feminism is ridiculous. Egalitarianism is fine.
If it were called egalitarianism, would it be filled with so many one-sided cunts who use it as a platform for gender-hating nonsense and then get compared to Nazis? I'd say the name very much changes what it is and can be. If I start up an equality movement and call it a white supremacy movement, that name would sure as hell effect what it actually is as far as anyone is concerned. It could never really be about equality with that name, just as feminism can never really be about equality with a name that is one-sided and divisive (gotta love that 'us vs. them' mentality inherent to the whole thing) in and of itself. The name alone cuts out half a population, to say nothing of the "us versus them" rhetoric from even the less crazy ones.FelOnyx wrote:the name of something has no effect on what the thing actually is

Anywho, in regards to KS (Hanako in particular), this seems relevant.
